Body Jewelry

Beauty, Parenting No Comments »

Nowadays having just their ears pierced is not enough, they want their nose pierced, belly button, lips, eyebrow, nipples and God knows where else! This gives me an idea to start body jewelry web store.

During my teenage years, having 2 holes on the ear lope is something out of the norm. A few years later, 2 are not enough! As for me, I stick to one hole on each ear. And I really pity some young children that got their ears pierce before 1 year old. They so small what, what they know about beauty and fashion.

As for my children, I am not going to force upon them having their ears pierced. Once they grew up and they want it, they can do it themselves; maximum 2 holes on one ear and no more holes elsewhere!

No Hanging Around at the Internet Cafe

Parenting No Comments »

Hubby might need to work full day for this whole week; meaning from 10am till 12 midnight. So, the children will only see him sleeping before they leave home to school. Normally when this happens I will usually bring them along to their daddy’s internet cafe when I send him dinner and also release him for a lil while for him to bathe.

However, hubby is not so keen to have them around for long at the shop because their will mess up his place and the worst part is getting his CAT6 cable pulled put by Barnabas. So…my children, you shall see your daddy this weekend only! :P

The girls are fighting over a decorative item; a glass vase that contains some shells in it. Since they do not want to share or take turns holding and admiring it, I took it away from them and put in on top of my wardrobe. Don’t want to share, no one gets it.

The next day, Clarissa came in my room, point to the glass vase requesting me to give it to her. I said, “No.” She asked, “Why No?” So I asked her back, “You tell Mommy why.” She answered, “Fight.”

See see see.

Baba Boy

Parenting 4 Comments »

I mentioned in my previous post, Barnabas at 25th month that he is pretty good with feeding himself; using the spoon and also his fingers. Here’s a prove of him eating with his fingers. He is a pure Baba Boy. Speak Malay and eat with hands. :)

ah

He eats more this way. Btw, he was eating rice with Ikan Goreng Chili Garam. My mom uses the fresh chili which is not hot at all; it has very nice fresh chili taste. Barnabas and Clarissa love this dish. Belle; a lil chili will make her scream and stuck her fingers in her ears; like to prevent smoke coming out from them!

Why No Whys

Education, Parenting No Comments »

I read that many mothers are “complaining” that sometimes they cannot cope with the children asking endless question, “Why, Why, Why”. So how they stop their “Whys”? They diverted their attention to other things that is not of their interest.

I too had my “Whys” moment and I too did the same. Sometimes I even scolded them for asking too many question. Hubby came to the rescue; he suggested that I should ask them back their “Whys”. Get them to think of the possible answers. If they get it wrong, correct them; they learn. When they amazed you with their unique answer; you learn. :)

So, I don’t hear many “Whys” from my girls because they know their parent will ask them to think. I know some of you might be thinking that due to that, they stop wanting to know the reason behind everything and just take it whatever that they see, hear, feel, touch and taste. I too have the same thought.

So what we did is, from time to time we ask them question when they don’t, to test whether they are using their brain to rationalized what their 5 senses perceive.

Do try them out and see whether it works or not. :D

The above prom dresses is chosen by Clarissa, my 3.5yo! She does have good taste ya. :)

It is scary how my children are growing up like a bullet train right before my eyes. Today Belle corrected Clarissa’s English, Clarissa reminded me to love her more and Barnabas do not want be referred as a baby. Soon they will be going to primary school then secondary and before I know it they will be asking me to buy them their homecoming dresses. I hope that Belle will slim down by then, if not she has to pick one from the plus size dresses! hehe.

Toys for Boys

Barnabas, Fun, Parenting 1 Comment »

trucks

Before I talk about toys. Let me tell you the story behind the above picture of Barnabas playing with his trucks which I bought from the wholesale toys shop two days ago.

Every morning Barnabas sleep will be interupted at 7am when I wake his sisters up for school. By 8am, he will wake up when I carry him to the car to send him to my mom’s before sending his sisters to school. The only day that he can wake up later is on weekends. So I decided to let him sleep over at my mom’s on Sunday night so that he can have enough sleep after a whole day of fun on Sunday.

The thing with most mommies is, we will deeply miss our child/children when they are away especially one that sleeps under your armpit and cuddles you like a teddy bear when sleeping. I kept thinking about him the whole night and even heard his cries for me!

So today, after sending the girls to school I went to pick him from my mom’s and brought him home to have one on one time with him playing with his boys’ toys; blogging can wait. You see, when his sisters are around, he will normally play all the girls toys with his sisters! :D

Barnabas at 25 months - Potty Trained

Barnabas, Parenting 3 Comments »

sweet

He is potty trained but NEVER pee or poo in a potty. He does his business on the toilet bowl. He doesn’t like to get his pants wet or having poops in it too. When I started to wear him pants, he peed and pooped in his pants but after realising that it is way too messy than peeing and pooping in his diaper or clothe diaper, he started telling when natures call. He pees like a boy now; tilt his butt, lift up his birdy and shoot! hehe But when he does that in the bathroom before bathing with his sisters, he pees like them; squat. Next task, to get him diaperless at night too.

He is pretty good with feeding himself; using the spoon and also his fingers. When he is with me, I seldom feed him coz when he sees his sister feeding themselves, he wants the same too. He is a small eater and due to that, he is only 10.5kg; light weight. Ok lar, coz he always wants to be carried! :D

The sun. He doesn’t complaint when playing outdoor in the afternoon but if the sun shines at him in the car he will go…”Hot, hot, hot, on (air) cond.” If he is sitting on the front seat, he will shift to the back seat.

His speech. He speaks more Malay than English but he understands both languages pretty well. I speak to him in English but most of the time he will reply me in Malay! Influence from MIL and the maid. But sometimes both of us are frustrated when he mix both language and only say the last syllabus. I don’t understand him and he will get very upset.

Psst…he still don’t know his ABC! Coz I didn’t teach him. Not going to though coz I am going to teach him phonics instead, don’t want him to get confused.

He is still mommy’s boy and love to sleep under my armpit and wrap my leg with his like a bolster. :D

Horse Riding at Klebang Beach - FOC

Surprisingly hubby woke up early this morning; before I sent the girls to school. So I dragged him along for breakfast. After breakfast, I decided to have some mother and son time alone. Offered daddy to come along but he’d rather hit the bed! So off we went to Klebang Beach which is less than 5 minutes drive from my house.

Happy to see him having fun and waved me Goodbye as he rode away from me! Sign that he is becoming more independent? Well, he didn’t go far from me. Then I heard him say “Mo Mommy” and he made a U turn, abandon his horse and stood near me.

mommy

For that moment, my worries and stress were suppressed. And I don’t regret quiting my full time job. :D

If I am going to do this often, I might want to get those cute little ipods to keep my ears entertained when he rode far away from me.

Talkative Boy

Barnabas, Parenting 6 Comments »

Belle started saying her first word at 8 months old. Clarissa at 10 months old. But it took them a year to really talk in sentences.

At 8 months and 10 months Barnabas signed. My dad thought he is dumb! I was worried too. hehe

Barnabas started saying his first word after 21 month. Then the sprinting started. In 3 months time, he is speaking in sentences and very chatty.

I am loving and savoring every moment talking and listening to him. He even tells me bedtime story!

He really save the best for last huh? :D

My 4th Child is a Girl!

Family, Health, Parenting 1 Comment »

A very chubby, cute and super fair baby girl who knows how to say “Milk” on the first day she greeted earth!

Oh! Don’t start cussing me ok…I did not keep this pregnancy a secret. I did not give birth to a genius. It was hubby! Yes! He gave birth to our 4th child!!!

This is a super funny dream. I dreamt it the night I read updates from Chinnee’s blog that she gave birth already. hehe

So, many are asking when my 4th will pop up. Well as for now, I am not ready physically. My immune system is weak and I fall sick easily too. On top of that there is another health issue that has been around since before Belle. It is more prevalent now. :(

When I have my 4th child, I also want to be able to store my child’s cord blood because I did not with my DoReMi. We know the importance of it but just couldn’t afford it before.

If you are living in US, you might want to Enroll with Cryo-Cell International. They are having Special Offers now. There is also information about What Makes Cryo-Cell Different from the rest.

What a Monday

Health, Parenting 2 Comments »

Almost everyone hates Monday because that is the beginning of a busy, boring, routined week. Gone are the unplanned, relaxing and fun weekend.

So far, this is my worst Monday. Belle and Barnabas are invaded by the Chicky Pox. Belle cried with every pox that she saw! I think more of manja then pain. Barnabas is whinny and cranky coz he has slight temperature.

“Mo Ah-Meeee” = Mommy carry me.
“Mo Wome” = I want to go out, somewhere, anywhere.
“Mo wo beach, mo dohdok horse.” = Want to go to the beach to sit horse.

Put the above on repeat; many many times!

I don’t mind carrying him around the house if I don’t have backache.
I don’t mind driving him out somewhere, anywhere if I did not sprain my neck. I can’t turn to the left without feeling pain from the neck down to my shoulder!

Maybe I should try drinking the kava kava to help me reduce all this stress.

I just hope my Monday won’t get any worse than this.

Prescribe My Own Medicine

Health, Parenting No Comments »

After one round of Chicken Pox experience from Clarissa, I know what medicine is more required than the other. So, when I went to bring them to see the GP, I told the doctor that I only need one bottle of paracetamol, 2 bottles if the “itchy” syrup and no Calamine. Still have left over from Clarissa; don’t need that that much. The doctor also prescribe me with the Antibiotic but not to consume now. Got to wait till the water in the pox turns yellowish.

Oh ya, we can actually access clinical information on more than 3,300 drugs from our blog by just adding the free medical blog widget. This is made possible by The Epocrates MedSearch tool. I think I try to find the actual medical term for the “itchy” syrup.

“This announcement was paid for by Epocrates.”

Barnabas Turns TWO Today!!!

Barnabas, Fun, Parenting 8 Comments »

Two years ago, no blogger knows that I was pregnant with him! My biggest and longest secret. :D And today he is TWO! And he is my echo. Love echoing me, especially when I nag his sisters!

We did not plan to have any birthday party. Do not want to trouble other family members spending money for him. Since today is his day, I took leave to spend the day with him plus Clarissa too because she is not completely clear from the chicken pox.

We left home at 10am and back only by 3pm, exhausted; him not me. ;)

Brought them to McD at Dataran Pahlawan to play at the playground and me, trying out for the first time Big Breakfast. Verdict; not gonna buy it again! The bread taste and smell funny! Liat pulak tu! I thought it is supposed to be muffin???

He was so excited to see his “Pearpearplane” up close. Then we walked towards A’Famosa but before we arrived there, he complaint, “Hot, hot”! That’s my Putera Licin! So to the shopping complex we went in and brought a pair for t-shirt and shorts for him.

Barnabas 2nd birthday is just around the corner. I felt that it does come slow. Maybe it is because he starts talking late and it makes his growing up real slow. Partly I asked for it! Since he is my youngest child, I didn’t want him to grow up so fast like his 2 sisters. I wanted to enjoy the baby him as long as I could. Well, God answers prayer!

The Power of Love

Family, Home, Parenting No Comments »

Last night there was black out for 2 hours from 9.45pm to about 11.45pm. I was in my room blogging away and next I heard screaming from Belle. They were watching TV. Since I do not have any torchlight, I ran out to get them with my laptop while MIL went to get some candles. Thank God for laptop! :D

Then it’s bedtime. I prayed that the mozzie won’t attack and to get them to sleep, I used Clarissa workbook to fan them away. The amazing thing is, I can fan away for half an hour without feeling tired. That is what I called The “Power” of Love. :D

The next morning, I woke up with a sore arm!

Angpow for Mama

Barnabas, Belle, Clarissa, Family, Food, Parenting 6 Comments »

Yesterday was my mom’s 53rd birthday. Yes, she is young. She got married at 19yo and got me at 20yo. So you can guess my age already huh? :P

When I told my children that “Today is Mama’s birthday.” This is what they told me, “Mommy, I want to give Mama Angpow.” To my children, birthday gift is Angpow, not Toys because toys they can get almost everytime they go shopping with me!

Well, every year I give my mom’s Angpow too. Easier that way, she can buy what she like with the cash. So this year, I split my Angpow to 3 packets for each of my children. I wonder whether she will use her Angpow money to invest in ademco security product. You know lar, she is getting older and alone at home with her grandchildren during working hour.

mama

Upon reaching my mom’s, they stood in front of my mom and sang her the Happy Birthday song then gave the Angpows to their Mama. Then each of them hug, kiss and told her that they love her. I am so proud of them and my mom too. When my dad returned home my mom proudly told him what her grandchildren did to her. :D

That night all of us went for dinner at Portuguese Settlement. All my siblings and my aunt with her 4 children which my mom used to babysit when they were babies except my 1st sister who is teaching in Kuching .

Sorry is Extremely Expensive

Barnabas, Belle, Parenting 2 Comments »

SORRY is extremely expensive for the other 2 of my children.

For Annabelle, it is so difficult to get the word “Sorry” out from her mouth. It like she will die if she say the word. But she will eventually say the word grudgingly and in hears. Sometimes she purposely didn’t want to pronounce it properly.

As for Barnabas, just now was the first time I asked him to apologize for hitting me. He wanted a pudding so I helped to tear of the cover and suck out the juice so that it won’t mess up his hands. He hit my face thinking that I am going to eat his pudding. So I refused to give him the pudding unless he apologize. Did he? NO. He rather not have the pudding than to apologize! In a way, it wasn’t his fault. It was just a misunderstanding. ;)

Now and Then

Clarissa, Parenting No Comments »

Small children tend to use a lot of the word “Then” when they tell story or report certain event. Normally they will go like this.

Mommy, I saw a cat then I a saw a dog then the dog chase the cat then the cat run to hide.

This is how Clarissa would say it…

Mommy, I saw a cat now I a saw a dog now the dog chase the cat now the cat run to hide.

She confused between the two words. I corrected her a few times but she still prefers to use NOW. :D

Sorry is Cheap

Clarissa, Parenting 1 Comment »

SORRY is very cheap to Clarissa. I think it is because she has to apologize too many times that she became numb to that magic word. After she hit her sister or brother, we will tell her to say “Sorry”. It came so fast, “Sowee”. Seconds or minutes after than she repeats her nuisance again, then she will quickly say, “Sowee”. At times it comes to the extend that her daddy will tell her, “No, I do not want your SORRY!”

What would you do?

Bedwetting

Clarissa, Education, Parenting 5 Comments »

Clarissa has been diaper free since October 2007 with only 2 times accident during the first 2 weeks.

Surprisingly she wet her bed 2 days in a row at almost the same time, last night and the night before. The first time it happened, I thought she might drink too much before bed but I doubt it. But when it happened again last night even after making sure she PU before bed, I suspected it has to do with her test.

She is a very carefree girl, with no worries in the world and being pampered by her teachers because she is the smallest, youngest and cutest girl in her class. They all call her “Cute, Cute”. What more with the glasses on!

I read here that Bedwetting is sometimes a sign that the child is upset or worried about something. With the threat that she got from her teacher (canning and not allowed to go home if she refused to do the test all by herself) that once love her so much, I guess that worries her. It also made her confused.

This morning, she repeatedly asks me what day is tomorrow and whether tomorrow is a schooling day.

So I told one of her teachers (the one that threaten her was not around) about what happened and she will inform the principal about it.

Don’t get me wrong. I am ok with the teacher threatening her with cane; I myself always wave the cane at her and use all kind of threat when soft talk does not work. I guess she is immune to me doing that. hehe

The real exam is in June. I hope by then, she will get the message that she is a big girl now and she has to be more independent and not depend on the teacher to do her school work.

Let’s see whether she wet her bed tonight since tomorrow is no school day. :D If she does, I got to find other cause to this bedwetting phenomenon.

Childhood Dreams

Parenting No Comments »

What are your childhood dreams? I am sure we have more than just one dream. My dreams are…

1. To be able to climb coconut tree; not the short ones, those tall ones; half way enuf lar. The highest I went was our rambutan tree. Do I want to realize that dream now? No way!

2. To have lots and lots of toys and storybooks. During my childhood I only have my textbook and to have a storybook is a luxury. I received 4 storybooks on my birthday from one of my aunties. I guarded that with my life, then. Now, they are all gone! I can’t remember my parents buying me any toys. The toys I have are gift and hand-me-down from my rich cousins. Now, I am spoiling my children with almost any toys that is within my means to get them. :P

3. To own a computer. We have an internet cafe business now! hahahaha

4. To touch the snow. Not realized yet. Genting SnowWorld fake snow does not count.

5. To marry a rich man. Still waiting for my man to become rich.

and many many more…

I am tempted to buy The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch to read his last lecture about “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams.” Anyone read his book?

Affordable Health Insurance

I am finally going to be a full time SAHM pretty soon. The boss has found my replacement and I am keeping my fingers crossed that she will turn up this 15th and stay. Then I won’t feel obligated to stay any longer. Some working mom would love to have the option of working half day. Well, the fixed income will still be there but half day with my children, nothing much I can achieve except guiding them in their homework, making sure they take their nap, wake up to play and a short time for reading. No time for teaching and no time for me to prepare my teaching material. So I decided to sacrifice my “secured income”.

Every mommy would be delighted to hear this line when you put food on the table. Especially if you are the one that prepares it.

I named this fried rice, Carrot Fried Rice because it has lots of carrots.

Barnabas said, “Mo Mam Mam, Mo Mam Mam” until I place a plate of the Fried Rice infront of him.

Clarissa said, “I want same chair like Barnabas.” He was sitting on a high chair (4 chairs stack together) you see.

After giving them each their plate of fried rice, I sit together and watch them eat. I ate a lil bit only coz hubby and I going dating that night and checking out the espresso machines for the business. ;)
