Roses

Family, Holiday, Home No Comments »

My youngest sister just came back from her company trip to Cameron Highland last weekend. When you go for a holiday in Cameron Highland, 2 things that you will surely bring home; roses and strawberries. If not strawberries coz most of them are sour, you will surely buy their roses because they are very cheap. The last time I was there, I paid RM10 for a dozen of roses. I wonder how much the price is now. Here, one stalk of rose will easily cost for than RM2.

roses

My girls were so excited to see so many roses in their Ee Ee’s room. They kept asking me to bring them to my sister’s room so that they can admire and smell the roses. They wanted to have a rose each but dare not ask from my sister. You see, even small girls like roses. :) So I told them that one day we will bring them to Cameron Highland since daddy already promise our missionary friends that we would visit them sometime this year. Unfortunately that won’t be that soon coz their mommy is broke and jobless. :( With the petrol hike, we would think more than twice before traveling to far away land.

Outdoor Furniture for My Children

Barnabas, Belle, Clarissa, Fun, Home, Parenting 13 Comments »

Look at what their daddy and uncles did last Sunday. Thanks to them, my children are now enjoying more outdoor activities; not that they do not have enough of it but now they have more reason to stay away from the TV and computer. :D

The Power of Love

Family, Home, Parenting No Comments »

Last night there was black out for 2 hours from 9.45pm to about 11.45pm. I was in my room blogging away and next I heard screaming from Belle. They were watching TV. Since I do not have any torchlight, I ran out to get them with my laptop while MIL went to get some candles. Thank God for laptop! :D

Then it’s bedtime. I prayed that the mozzie won’t attack and to get them to sleep, I used Clarissa workbook to fan them away. The amazing thing is, I can fan away for half an hour without feeling tired. That is what I called The “Power” of Love. :D

The next morning, I woke up with a sore arm!

Mozzie Go Away

Health, Home No Comments »

The children’s room, the window is fixed with exterior shutters with those netting to prevent the mozzie from coming in. Unfortunately, the netting has torn and the mozzie have access to their room to taste their sweet blood when they are fast asleep.

I did asked hubby to fixed it but he is always busy so I have no choice but to use the mosquitoes repellent for the time being. I am not really in favor in using repellent as we do not know the long term side effect of it. :(

But then arh, with my 2 girls, I have to get 3 sets! If not, I will ended up sitting on the grass reading my book. And I must look for a Purple Daisy hammock chair for Clarissa because purple is her all time favorite colour.

That will only be in my dream lar. No joke to spend for 3 hammocks!

What is Shower Faucets For?

Family, Fun, Home No Comments »

Shower faucets are microphone to my girls and gun/pistol to me. Shoot them when they do not want to rinse the soap on their body. And they will always fight for it because in each bathroom there is only one.

To Barnabas, the shower faucet is a lollipop because all I see he did when he managed to grab hold of it is licking it. He loves licking the water from the faucet!

Bathing Time

Family, Fun, Home No Comments »

How long do you spend bathing your children? Mine will take as long as one hour to bathe all three of them plus myself.

It is a challenge to get all three into the bathroom but once they are in, it is also another challenge to get them out of there.

Firstly, I will have to allow them to bring along their favorite toys, even those that is not water proof. Then they would need handkerchief to bathe their dolls and later, after they got bored with their toys, they will “help” to clean the bathroom fixtures.

In between play and clean, I will drag one at the time to soap and scrub them. :D

Lofts

Home No Comments »

If I can afford it, it will be nice to have lofts as our home, especially if you have many children. Lofts are a type of condominium that originated when warehouses were converted into apartments and condominiums. So you can imagine the wide open space that they have. Unfortunately they are quite expensive, that’s why I said, if I can afford it.

Attack of the Ulat Bulu

Barnabas, Family, Health, Home 4 Comments »

This morning the maid alarmed me that Barnabas has rashes on his leg, thigh and hands and he is scratching away. Being more kampong person compared to me, she knew the cause of it. She told me that the rashes are caused by contact with the ulat bulu. We just woke up from the same bed and I don’t see any ulat bulu around. Clarissa also slept on the same bed as us, no rashes on her.

The maid told me that due to the hot, dry and windy weather, the bulu might fly around and landed on him. Poor boy. So I quickly send him to my mom’s and she told me to use hair to rub on the rashes. So I took his hand and rub it on his hair. “What about his leg??? Cannot reach lar.” I told my mom. “Use you hair lar!” she replied. “Oh ya tak ya, eh!”

After rubbing my hair all over his body, my mom told me to rub some ointment on them, Zambuk. Don’t ask me how the hair will heal; I just follow. By lunch time, not a single sign of rash anymore. Praise God for that.

When I went home, the maid asked about my son and told me that she also got it when she was cleaning the room and changing the bedsheet and pillow case.

How can I be sure that there is no bulu left behind? I wish I have that giant vacuum cleaner that could suck all the dust and whatever bulus from the room. Anyone have them? Can courier down to me ah?

Do you think I need to get life insurance quote for my children ah? In case it could be life threatening.

Let There Be Light

I live in a kampong house. As usual a kampong house will tend to have extension as the years goes by. It started with one simple house with 3 rooms and window all around it. The house is well lighted and bright.

Twenty years later the family grew and there is a need for more bedrooms. The extension begins and the windows are “moved” into the bedroom and the house became poorly lighted.

I am talking about the house that I am living now. I really hate to go home to a dark house. I know MIL wants to save electricity but at least turn on a table lamp. I don’t think it uses a lot of electricity.

So I am thinking of getting one or two table lamp to the house. As I browse through the net for ideas, I came across Upscale Lighting Home Page.

lamp

I love this Spiral table lamp with can be found under Hot Deals on Upscale Lighting section. Their “Hot Deals” section is frequently updated and we can savings up to 50%.

Looking for more incredibly low prices items, then check out their Clearance on Upscale Lighting. Those items there are no longer in production too but you won’t definitely get the same elsewhere with such low prices.

Check them out, you might find something that you have been looking for.

Love Swimming

Family, Home, Sports No Comments »

I love to swim, hubby too. I hope my children would love to swim too. When I was pregnant with Belle I swim after the 1st trimester until she is 7 months old in my belly. The only pregnant woman in the public pool! It was fun, swimming when you are pregnant. Easily float! hahaha. Due to it, I love going to the 12 feet and let myself sink then float up again. :)

I did hint to hubby to hire people like the phoenix pool builders to build own private pool since we have such huge compound. You know what he told me. “Go swim in the fish pond lar, we have 3 of them. You can choose either one.” Grrr….

Btw, our fish pond is not the small ones, they are huge fish pond. If I am not mistaken, it is 20 by 40 feet each. :D

A Phone In All The 7 Rooms?

Home No Comments »

Living in a huge bungalow kampong house, walking from one end to the other is quite tiring if you are not well. Especially when you need to answer phone calls. We used to have 2 phones in the house. One in the living hall and one at the dining hall. Now it is down to one ever since one of it spoils.

Hubby is thinking of installing another phone to make life easier for his mother to answer phone calls when we are not around. My girls will never want to answer phone calls. I think they are still shy. I wonder whether it is a good idea to install the VoIP Call Center Phone Systems. With it, hubby can actually install a phone in each of the 7 rooms that we have in the house. Turning our home into hotels!

no light

Look at my son, so happy playing with the candle. He is actually sitting on our dining table. Hubby refrained him from playing but I stop him (hubby). Let him play lar. If his finger got burnt then he will learn his lesson. :P

Oh ya, the maid told me that during the black out, he allowed her to carry him (no choice mah, Mommy not around) and kept pointing to the switch and instructed her to switch it on.

Smart also my boy eh. :D

Blogging Outdoor

Home, Parenting No Comments »

It was a very windy Sunday and cloudy too last week but all of us is in the house. My girls playing on the computers and me chasing my son around the house. So, to get my girls unhook from the computers, I chased them out the house and get them to play and cycle outdoor.

I took this opportunity to blog outdoor with my new laptop for the first time. I sat on the ground coz I have no teak benches mah and chatted with Chooi Peng instead. I even gave her my compound tour; showing her my house, my swing, my old junk, my coconuts trees, durian tree and rambutan tree. If I have those beautiful teak garden furniture, I will show her that too. Instead, I showed her the stoney ground that I sat on instead of teak benches.

If any of you want to see my kampong environment, buzz me on Sunday. I’ll show you. :)

How To Choose The Best Wireless Intercom System For Your Home Or Business

Business, Home, Shopping No Comments »

One of the main factors that people would consider when they are buying a product is the cost factor. They want the cheapest possible product and expect the best quality possible for that product. This is the main mindset of the people. Unfortunately, in most cases the cheapest product is normally made of low quality materials or it does not provide the best quality service. I have used many products that were made in China. I used the word “were” because most of these products are no longer in use. Generally, the products made in China especially the electrical items are very cheap. However, it does not last long and in certain products the safety requirements are ignored. No, I am not against products made in China but I am just sharing my experience and giving an example.

Likewise, it is the same with wireless intercom system. If you asked me about wireless intercom system yesterday, I would know nothing much about it. But with the article by David Onslow who is the marketing director at IntercomsOnline.com, I do know more about wireless intercom system now. In his article on how to choose the best wireless intercom system he shared about the various frequencies that are used in the wireless intercom products. It is interesting to know the brief history of the various frequencies used. He also shared about the reasons why certain products would have the sometimes irritating buzzing interference sound. If you need to get a wireless intercom system, I would recommend you to read first the article by David Onslow. It would definitely help you to make the right choice.

Luxurious condo near a beautiful beach

Holiday, Home No Comments »

There are times that I wished I do have a luxurious condo near a beautiful beach. Then whenever I want to get away from the busyness of work, I would just pack my things and go to my condo and try and enjoy my stay there. It would like going for a holiday but I do not have to worry about accommodation or pay for it as it is my own unit. I can stay there as long as I want and enjoy the beautiful sandy beach.

Well, if you can afford it and would like to buy a luxurious condominium, you should consider The Beach Club in Hallandale Beach. You can buy a unit at any of the Beach Club I, Beach Club II or Beach Club III. Alternatively, you can lease the unit for certain period of time. Please let me know if you bought one. I might want to go for a holiday at Hallandale Beach.

Outdoor Furniture

My children love the outdoor. I think all children loves outdoor. A place where there they can run freely after being confined between 4 walls almost 20 hours a day. A place where they can get themselves dirty without being scolded! haha.

However there is no place for their mommy and daddy to sit around while watching them play. I am thinking of getting high quality outdoor furniture that is long lasting and affordable where I can blog on my laptop while keeping an eye on them.

teak

I read that teak garden furniture has everything that I describe on the above; long lasting and affordable. The teak benches are made of the finest quality teak wood and are available in eye-catching styles and practical sizes. Check out their range of teak tables, it is also very nice and stylish.

I wonder when can I get them.

Barcelona Chair

Home No Comments »

chair

The above chair may look simple but it is one of the most stylish and elegant pieces of modern furniture of the 20th century. It was designed by Mies van der Rohe for the German Pavilion in the 1929 World’s Expo in Barcelona, Spain. Maybe that’s where the chair got its name.

Barcelona Chair is made of genuine Italian leather and stainless steel. I read from Wikipedia that the retail price for a stainless steel unit is approx. USD5k! This is one expensive chair. No wonder it has the reputation of being “a design worthy of kings”. The price that only kings can afford without feeling the pinch! hehe.

Fortunately, it is made affordable us by The Furniture Loft. For only $899 after discount you could have one of it in your living room and enjoy the comfort that only kings can enjoy once upon a time.

I can’t have one of this at home now. If my girls decided to check what’s inside the seat, I will be crying!

Maid is Coming

Family, Home, Menceceh No Comments »

If everything goes on smoothly, I will get an Indonesia maid earliest by 17th this month. Besides getting help around the house, there will also be extra burden in taking care of the maid, less privacy and hubby just can’t throw his cash from the business on the dressing table anymore unless he don’t mind sharing it with the maid. :P

Hubby was thinking of putting Home Security Cameras in the house because most of the time the children will be left with the maid while we are away at work. I do not want her to harm my children in any way while we are away.

However which type of Home Security Camera to buy, we are still discussing about it. From the Home Security Cameras & Video Surveillance Articles that I read, there are a few of them. Still thinking which one is the best for the house.

Irritating bugs

Health, Home, Menceceh No Comments »

It is not easy to look after 3 children. The amount of clothes that need to be washed everyday is a lot especially if there are many activities during the day. And if you have a daughter like mine who would want to change to another set of clothings everytime her dress got even a little wet, the clothes to be washed will amount to a big pile at the end of the day.

It is because of these tasks of ensuring the clothes are washed everyday that I sometimes neglected to wash the bed sheets and the pillow casings. If you are facing the same problem like me, I am sure that you would have to face the bed bugs in your mattress. They are really irritating and their bites is not something that you would want at all. Make sure that you regularly clean your bed sheets, pillow casing and dry your mattress and pillows under the sun. You can find more ways or tips to get rid of the bed bugs at bedbugsguide.com. Go check it out and do not bug me for more website on this matter.

What If?

General, Home No Comments »

We will never know what will happen to us or our properties. Only God knows. We are taught to take reasonable precautions to prevent any accidents or mishaps. That reminds me of the robbery that happened about a month ago at one of my neighbor’s house. Not only was she robbed, she was attacked until she fell unconscious. And all these things happened during broad daylight. The robber climbed over the fence and managed to break open the house door before ransacking the house.

When this news reached my family members, they were very troubled. The robbery occurred within walking distance to my house. Furthermore, there is no fence around my house and anybody can just drive in to the house. What if the robbers come to steal any valuable things but did not find any? Would they then hurt my children or my mother-in-law? Would they set the house on fire in their frustration? Wah…if that happens, then I would lose all my things. Maybe I should consider buying home insurance for my house. Hmm… will ask my husband about it.

Having to mind 3 children besides working and housekeeping, I really have to manage my time well to blog and to do other errands. One of it, sacrifice my beauty sleep. Thank God for the time being we are staying put here. No plans of shifting to new places or new country yet.

If I ever need to do that I hope the place we are going have the kind of online facilities for us to search for apartment to stay because in new places we won’t know anyone to help recommend the best apartment to rent besides the real estate agent.

5 Stars Bed

Home No Comments »

After a long day at work, sitting most of the time working and blogging, the first place that I would go to once I arrive home is my bed. Spreading my body flat on the bed which works wonder eliminating all the aches from my body. That is why the type of bed that we choose is very important. Too soft, no good for the back bone. To hard, better sleep on the floor! :P

Another thing is, I like my bed look like beds in 5 stars hotel rooms. There’s a touch of class in it. To do so, choosing a quality bedding is very crucial. If I were to live in UK, I will sure go to Terry’s Fabrics to get my duvet cover and bedspreads because they have many varieties of duvet covers from modern contemporary to traditional designs. I am sure there is something for everyone’s taste.

Door Wide Open

There are pros and cons living in a village. Living in a village, we based on trust. We trust our neighbours. Due to it, we always leave our door wide open during the day and night too until we retrieve to bed. Our children are free to roam around the village without fear that they will be harm. Sadly, this is only applicable 20 years ago where you hardly see any foreign worker in Malaysia. Not many people are jobless and crime rate is still very low.

I wonder whether there is still a real estate where there is safety like staying in a village 20 years ago. If Broward county real estate has it, I might consider making my home there where we are free from fear and we are saved.

Wooden house is better

Home No Comments »

I stay in a village and I enjoyed every moment of it. My house used to be a wooden house. And it was much more cooling compared to the concrete house. The post & beam of the wooden house makes it look stylish. The only thing about wooden house is that you need to put extra effort in ensuring that there are no termites around.

I heard from a talk given by a surgeon and he was mentioning about health matter. In his presentation he mentioned that it is much better to stay in a wooden type house compared to a mosaic and tiles type house. The reason being that the mosaic and tiles actually emit radioactive rays. It has been researched that in a year, the owner of the mosaic and tiles type house would be exposed to five times the equivalent of X-Ray scan. Wow, that is indeed a disturbing fact.

If you are concerned about your health and are able to afford to build a wooden type house, you can enlist the help of Vermont Timber. Vermon Timber provides outstanding custom timber frames and post & beam frames for residential and commercial projects including homes, hotels, churches, barns and more. Check out their website and you will have an idea of how wooden or timber frames can enhance the look of your homes.

Personalized Photo Gifts

One of the most important places in a house is the bedroom. That is where you spent most of your lifetime. You spend at least six to eight hours sleeping every day in your bedroom. Besides sleeping, you would have spent extra hours there doing something else in your bedroom. That is why is it very important to make the bedroom as cozy and comfortable as you can. The lighting and the colors of the room should be of your liking. All the ornaments and photos should be arranged accordingly. Your Personalized Photo Gifts would be a great decoration in the bedroom.

I know of someone who received Personalized Gifts where a blanket was printed with her picture. Her husband loves to wear that blanket every night… kind of reminding him of her warmth. She also hangs most of the Photo Gifts that she received from her friends in the room. Whatever it is that you put in your bedroom, make sure that it can enhance the room and enable you to sleep better.

Bigger Kitchen, Please

Family, Home No Comments »

My 2nd sister just bought a house. Like most new homeowner, the first thing that they will do is renovate their house especially the kitchen area. I wonder why can’t the developer make the kitchen bigger where the family can cook and dine in the same room. These days most in most houses, the dining room and living room are in the same hall. Anyway, it is very important to engage a good and renowned company that offer high quality Home improvements because home is where we find comfort after a whole day at work.

Like most UK homeowners, Anglian is the place they go for high quality home improvements. For more than thirty six years UK homeowners look to Anglian to fix double glazing, renovate their kitchens, garage doors, rooftrims, conservatories, uPVC doors etc. They are constantly improving their design and technology too. Their energy-saving Ultra 2 design helps to reduce energy costs, and the impact on the environment. All their windows are custom-built and come with a 10-year guarantee as standard.
