Online Medical Assistant Program

Education, Health No Comments »

One of my dreams is to see that my children go into medical line such as doctor, medical assistant, pharmacies, dentist or nursing. This professional skill is very useful when we go for mission work especially to the third world countries.

Since I am planning to homeschool them later, I am glad to know that there is online medical assistant school like St. Augustine School of Medical Assistant. For the Medical Assistant Certificate, the program only requires 6-8 weeks to complete. The medical assistant training program is very affordable too; only $645.

Allergy

Health No Comments »

Nowadays, many children have all kind of allergy. I wonder where it went wrong. Must blame the food, the water and the air we breathe; all so polluted. During my younger days, we hardly hear so many children have so many kind of allergy. Now, each time we bring them to the clinic the doctor will ask whether they have any allergy; those days where got.

That is why, it is so crucial for doctors to own an iphone because their can get the drug guide for iphone from Epocrates immediately in emergency cases. They don’t even have to leave the examination room. Save time, save lives.

Healthy and Tasty Meal

Education, Food, Health No Comments »

Everyday on the way back home from school I will ask my girls what they had during their 10.15am break. So far I only know that they have 3 menus; either it is thin (rice vermicelli) or fat (yellow noodle) brown noodle or Milo and biscuit. I am so tempted to ask the principal for a better menu since the school fee is quite high. My sister who runs a kindergarten too always prepares good and nutritious food for her kindies. The kindies there are so blessed to have a good cook as their Principal! Anyway, I don’t think I would make a fuss about it since it is only a tea break. :P

Why is He Purging???

Barnabas, Food, Health 2 Comments »

The moment he woke up, he told me that he wants to ngk ngk (pass motion). He went out of the room and look for Kakak.

Then I changed to him. While standing on the bed, he almost shouted, “Mah-Mee, ngk ngk ah-more (somemore)!!!” He can’t hold it like always coz he is purging very watery stools.

Wash, change and ngk-ngk again right before he entered the car. All in he purges 6 times from the moment he woke up. After giving him the medication around 10am, the purging stops.

At first I thought he ate too much fruits in a day; durian, red and yellow rambutan and langsat. He did the same before but no purging.

Later I saw some bananas on the table; it was Pisang Masak 40 Hari. That is the caused of his purging coz it happened to him every time he ate that type of banana.

Now I wonder who gave him the banana. Maid and MIL denied it, maybe his daddy!

Time for Clarissa’s Eye Check-up

Clarissa, Health No Comments »

We are supposed to go back there after a month but busyness kept us from bringing her there. We will go tomorrow since hubby will be back early tomorrow. I hope that her power does not increase. Even though she wears her glasses, with every opportunity she gets, she will remove it.

I wonder whether the optometrist there hold stocks of the Incredible Stylish New Frames From Zenni. From their website, there are Variable Dimension Frames From Zenni that we can choose from but we need the smallest for Clarissa because she has a small face. I like the range of Zenni Optical $ 8 Rx Eyeglasses, I might want to get one for myself because it is very cheap and comes with casing too.

Dating on Bicycle

bike

The above photo reminds me of my dating days. :D

Talking about bicycle, I wanted to start cycling to the beach to get some exercise but being a girl and living in a Malay community, I tend to get extra attention. I tried once; I got some not pleasant stares, I got honked, thank God I did not fall of the bicycle and many pheewitts!

So, I have to hold on to that idea until I get another bicycle in which I can cycle with my bodyguard (hubby). Meantime, anyone have the GNC coupons? I wanna buy some diet pills!

My 4th Child is a Girl!

Family, Health, Parenting 1 Comment »

A very chubby, cute and super fair baby girl who knows how to say “Milk” on the first day she greeted earth!

Oh! Don’t start cussing me ok…I did not keep this pregnancy a secret. I did not give birth to a genius. It was hubby! Yes! He gave birth to our 4th child!!!

This is a super funny dream. I dreamt it the night I read updates from Chinnee’s blog that she gave birth already. hehe

So, many are asking when my 4th will pop up. Well as for now, I am not ready physically. My immune system is weak and I fall sick easily too. On top of that there is another health issue that has been around since before Belle. It is more prevalent now. :(

When I have my 4th child, I also want to be able to store my child’s cord blood because I did not with my DoReMi. We know the importance of it but just couldn’t afford it before.

If you are living in US, you might want to Enroll with Cryo-Cell International. They are having Special Offers now. There is also information about What Makes Cryo-Cell Different from the rest.

Feeding JieJie Belle her medication after feeding himself with one dose. :)

Look at Belle’s body…she has so many Chicken Pox that I have to smear the Calamine all over her body. She got lots on her face and lips too. Barnabas has more on his face than Clarissa too. I think it’s the food that they eat. Clarissa only eats rice and drinks milk. She hardly eat any meat unlike the two of them. Belle loves her meat!

I have to go now…Barnabas “Mo dohdok aeroplane!”

What a Monday

Health, Parenting 2 Comments »

Almost everyone hates Monday because that is the beginning of a busy, boring, routined week. Gone are the unplanned, relaxing and fun weekend.

So far, this is my worst Monday. Belle and Barnabas are invaded by the Chicky Pox. Belle cried with every pox that she saw! I think more of manja then pain. Barnabas is whinny and cranky coz he has slight temperature.

“Mo Ah-Meeee” = Mommy carry me.
“Mo Wome” = I want to go out, somewhere, anywhere.
“Mo wo beach, mo dohdok horse.” = Want to go to the beach to sit horse.

Put the above on repeat; many many times!

I don’t mind carrying him around the house if I don’t have backache.
I don’t mind driving him out somewhere, anywhere if I did not sprain my neck. I can’t turn to the left without feeling pain from the neck down to my shoulder!

Maybe I should try drinking the kava kava to help me reduce all this stress.

I just hope my Monday won’t get any worse than this.

Prescribe My Own Medicine

Health, Parenting No Comments »

After one round of Chicken Pox experience from Clarissa, I know what medicine is more required than the other. So, when I went to bring them to see the GP, I told the doctor that I only need one bottle of paracetamol, 2 bottles if the “itchy” syrup and no Calamine. Still have left over from Clarissa; don’t need that that much. The doctor also prescribe me with the Antibiotic but not to consume now. Got to wait till the water in the pox turns yellowish.

Oh ya, we can actually access clinical information on more than 3,300 drugs from our blog by just adding the free medical blog widget. This is made possible by The Epocrates MedSearch tool. I think I try to find the actual medical term for the “itchy” syrup.

Belle & Barnabas Got Chicken Pox

Barnabas, Belle, Health 3 Comments »

After 2 weeks since Clarissa’s body was invaded by Chicken Pox, finally the other 2 got them. I thought they have very strong immune system because normally after a week they should get it. They sleep together and eat from the same spoon and drink from the same bottle/cup. Well, I guess God wants Belle to finish her exam first. Now she can rest for 2 weeks. :D

I just noticed the pox this morning when I was preparing them for church. So, we skipped church again this week. Belle has more then 10 tiny pox. Barnabas only 2 pox but his body is warmer today. He is cranky too and wants to be carried and I am having a backache now! :(

Clarissa is not completely healed. All the Chicken Pox has dried up but not all has dropped off. I wonder whether the teacher will shoo her home if I bring her to school tomorrow.

A tough week ahead. Looks like I have to take a week leave to mind them.

Mozzie Go Away

Health, Home No Comments »

The children’s room, the window is fixed with exterior shutters with those netting to prevent the mozzie from coming in. Unfortunately, the netting has torn and the mozzie have access to their room to taste their sweet blood when they are fast asleep.

I did asked hubby to fixed it but he is always busy so I have no choice but to use the mosquitoes repellent for the time being. I am not really in favor in using repellent as we do not know the long term side effect of it. :(

Clarissa Got Chicken Pox

Clarissa, Health 5 Comments »

It started to pop out on Saturday night. No one knows it was chicken pox until the next day, on Sunday, a few more came. My mom said it can’t be chicken pox coz she did not have fever, runny nose or sore throat but that evening she had a slight fever. So confirm lar, it is chicken pox.

Today, it grew bigger with clear water in them. Brought her to the clinic to get a bottle of Calamine and syrup for to stop her from feeling itchy. The doctor told me that when children is down with chicken pox, they do not suffer as much as the adult. They can still be active with no symptoms like the adult. I remembered that I suffered when I had chicken pox in my late teenage years.

So, did I isolate her from the other two? NOPE…I want them to get it too. Easier lar…all get it at the same time and also, they are still young, so it is kinda easy to abstain them from certain food but the tough part is to stop them from scratching! You don’t want to know what I did to stop Clarissa from scratching!

List of Diet Pills

Food, Health No Comments »

For lazy bum like me, diet pills are the only way to loose weight. And…I found the list of best diet pills in the market!!! Who dare try it with me? I know my lady boss would, my colleague also but I am not so in favor swallowing pills. Even those health supplements I often skip. I think I’d rather be a fatty bom bom than swallowing pills before each meal.

Belle Went For Fish Spa

Belle, Fun, Health 7 Comments »

Before the Fish Spa I prepared Belle & Clarissa by telling them that the fish has no teeth. They don’t bite but will only nibble. Belle agreed to try it but not Clarissa. She tagged along but dare not put her feet in. We forced; she screamed and wailed her lung out in fear. LOL.

Belle was reluctant in the beginning but knowing her, someone who loves physical sensation; she loves massage, put her foot in after observing what happened to us. It started with one foot, then the other and then her whole legs. She even wanted to sit inside the pool like me but the water is too deep for her.

She is still wearing her kindy t-shirt because I did not expect her to come in with us! :D

Oh ya, the place is called Dr Fish in Melaka. They do offer body massage and foot reflexology besides Fish Spa and they do have nice glass sink in their massage room.

Does Clarissa Has Lazy Eye?

Clarissa, Health 2 Comments »

During our trip to Tiara Beach Resort, I discovered something abnormal about Clarissa. While watching the Aerobatic Show at night, I noticed that she sat side ways and watched with her left eye only. So I made her to sit straight. She still watches with her left eyes by turning her head to the left.

Having astigmatism myself, I guess the night lighting is the reason she can’t focus so well. Anyway, to confirm that she did not develop lazy eye, I brought her to see the optometrist last week.

She drops a kind of liquid into her eyes to make her pupil enlarge to diagnose the problem. Thank God her eyes are ok. Maybe it was just a habit that she develops when she was watching TV without glasses all this while.

So now, we just have to remind her again and again to watch with both eyes.

Nap Nap Nap

Health No Comments »

Since I started working half day, I nap with my children almost everyday! Not only I am lazy to exercise, I sleep a lot too. That really helps to put extra weight on my body. I really need to start looking for diet pills that work. That is the only way for a lazy bum like me. But then, I am a little worried about the side effects. :(

Diet Pill or Exercise

Belle, Health No Comments »

My Belle has been pushing me to exercise almost everyday. She is so worried that I will burst like the Frog story. When I am busy typing away on my laptop, she will be urging me to stop. “Mommy, go dance.” “Mommy, let’s go for a walk.” “Mommy, go jump on the trampoline.” But this lazy Mommy ignored her! :P

I am sure if she knows about diet pills, she will remind me again and again to swallow them!

Affordable Health Insurance

I am finally going to be a full time SAHM pretty soon. The boss has found my replacement and I am keeping my fingers crossed that she will turn up this 15th and stay. Then I won’t feel obligated to stay any longer. Some working mom would love to have the option of working half day. Well, the fixed income will still be there but half day with my children, nothing much I can achieve except guiding them in their homework, making sure they take their nap, wake up to play and a short time for reading. No time for teaching and no time for me to prepare my teaching material. So I decided to sacrifice my “secured income”.

Tricks

Clarissa, Health 4 Comments »

I told her that she can only remove her specs when she wants to sleep and bathe. And I have been tricked with “Mommy I want to sleep” or “Mommy I want to bathe” since the first day she started wearing her specs. She’ll get use to it soon.

Oh ya, I have to record this down. The moment she put on her specs, I felt the headache as if I am the one wearing spectacle for the first time. She did not complaint. I guess God transferred her headache to me. :D

Well, I am getting use to seeing her with specs. She does look prettier and sweeter with it. It highlights her small eyes. :D

Now she fall less often. No more running into our patio furniture and fall down.

Strangers that we met in the market, teachers and relatives took pity of her.

Please don’t. You are making me feel more sad.

My Specky Girl

Clarissa, Health 12 Comments »

Introducing my new Clarissa.

specky

This lady saw her and me on webcam last night. She commented that Clarissa look more like me now! :D

I was very upset at first but now it has slowly sink in. I have to accept the fact that I can’t do nothing much about it now. It is all in God’s hand. I believe, In His Time He will make all things beautiful. :D

How I detect it? Well, this is how she watches TV and see the computer screen. Notice how she stares? And she will go near to the TV no matter how many times we make her sit far away from it. This all began when she started watching TV when she was around 2 yo. Before that, she is not interested in watching TV.

b4

At first we thought that is a habit until recently hubby told me to take a look at her eyes when she watches TV closer. She does not stare when she go close. And during the recent Zoo trip, she did not show any interest in watching the animal show even though she likes animals a lot. I guess the stage is too far for her to see.

So we brought her to see an optometrist on last Friday after my colleague told me that her son watches TV the same way as Clarissa.

computer

The computer shows very high result. More than 400 and her astigmatism is high too.

subjective

After seeing the optometrist, it is not that high but still very high to us. My power is less than 200. The optometrist prescribes a longer power for her. Left 325, Right 150 Astig/150 Shortsighted. And we need to send her for check up every 3 months.

after

This is how she watches TV after wearing her glasses. No more staring.

Now I know why she does not show interest in school. She can’t see!

Now I know why she often fall down and knock herself. She can’t see!

I felt so bad scolding her for being clumsy all this while.

Mommy is so sorry, Clarissa!

Prescribe Medicine with Medical PDA Software

Education, Health No Comments »

My dream is to see my children to go into healthcare when they grow up. Either a doctor, pharmacist or nurse. Since we are going to be a missionary family, having that skill is very priceless. They can really serve in the mission field. With the medical PDA software prescribing medicine is never easier, as long have you have a PDA, Smartphone or even an iPhone.

This Epocrates medical reference software is now used by over 500,000 healthcare professionals to access the information needed to make prescribing decisions such as drug dosing, side effects and health plan coverage.

With the advancement in technology, everything is getting easier. Anyone can become a doctor then? Nah…people in the healthcare need passion and patience.

You Will Burst if You Don’t Exercise

Belle, Health, Parenting 5 Comments »

Belle kept urging me to exercise. This is out of the norm.

Belle : Mommy, you go on your CD now and exercise. Let me play with your computer.

Me : Later lar. Now is so hot.

Belle: Wait you fat how? Later your stomach burst like the frog. Wait I show you.

She went to look for a book from the bookshelf.

You know the story about The Frog Who Likes To Boast? Never heard before? Well since I EFNTD, let me tell you the story…

A little frog is jumping about happily in a field. A bug bull later comes by to eat the grass in the field. The little frog has never seen such a big animal before. He is very frightened. He quickly hops and goes home.

Soon the little frog reaches the edge of the pond where he lives. He sees his father resting on a lotus leaf. “Father,” says the little frog, “I saw the biggest animal in the world.” The fatherf frog looks at his son and says, “Of course he can’t be bigger than me.”

“It’s not true, Father,” says the little frog. “He is much bigger than you!” The father frog is proud and not so clever. He begins to fill up his stomach with air. “Is the animal bigger than this?” asks the father frog, showing his big round stomach. “Father,” says the little frog, “the animal is much bigger than that!”

Well, you can figure out already on how the story goes. The father frog keep on filling his stomach with so much air that it burst!

So that’s where Belle got the idea that my stomach will burst too coz I have not read the story to her. She just saw the pictures and guessed that the frog tummy grew bigger due to too much eating.

Now, can you imagine how round my stomach is? :(

First Aid Kit

Health No Comments »

In the house, we have the First Aid Cupboard; a self made mini cupboard that contains ointments, cotton buds, keys, batteries, thread, needles, one cent coins, yellow solution, Kinesio Tape, some cotton and no paracetamol pills. I think I should get some.

When it comes to emergency cases like what happened yesterday, I panicked and I didn’t know what to look for even though everything is right in front of me! I can’t find the tape or the yellow solution.

Thank God hubby is around. If not, I think I will just be holding onto Clarissa’s finger and cry along with her!

I Kid You Not

“Mommy, you MUST exercise!”

“Why MUST Mommy exercise?”

“Because you are FAT!”

sop sop sop

“After you come back from office, you on the CD and you exercise, like this (show some exercise movement) okay?”

“Ok, ok, ok…let’s go to school now.”

meaning…don’t talk so much lar…Mommy is sad now. :(

She must have noticed my flabby flabs when I was changing this morning.

Where is my treadmills???

See, I kid you not when I whine that I am fat. Children very honest one.

Do you know that the blue lotus is the symbol of beautiful? I did not until today.

Not only that it is a beautiful flower, it has many benefits too. Since it is related to beauty, blue lotus has been used in anti-aging creams, sensitive skin care, mild cleansing products, sun care products, hair care for sensitive scalps and many more beauty products.

I also read that it is widely use in massage therapy to increase in lymphatic fluid circulation and an increase in blood circulation. I sure need this kinda massage therapy. When you do not follow strictly the confinement dos and donts, whole body aching after a long day with the kids.

Let’s say one day one of your children came back from school telling you that they want to study to become a x-ray technician. Will you freak out? I think I would. I do not want my child to die earlier than me due to radiation exposure.

Well, I am sure there will be safety precaution for x-ray technician since they will work 40 hour weeks. The use of shielding and diagnostic technologies, along with stringent recording and regulation of cumulative exposure, has all but resolved the radiation exposure. And the pay is not bad at all; x-ray technician can earn more than $55,400.

Drug Abuse

Family, Health, Parenting No Comments »

Our children are growing up fast and smarter than us. This is the time that we must show love as much as we could and at the same time discipline them with love. One of the reason is we do not want them to deviate into social illness like drug abuse. Drug Abuse is endemic, touching people from all socio-economic walks of life, from the mailroom to the boardroom. Some may be due to failure of upbringing, some due to peer pressure and some could also due to work stress.
