Project Eat Egg Mayo Sandwich Failed

Barnabas, Belle, Food 4 Comments »

I received my 2nd set of Bento Tools: Tigger & Pooh and Fried Egg/Pancake Mold yesterday.

This time I tried to introduce to them Egg Mayonnaise Sandwich since they love eggs. I used the Tigger & Pooh Stamp Mold to make them cute lil sandwiches.

Wondering where is Clarrisa? She is not interested in breakfast no matter how cute the breakfast can be. I told you that my children don’t go for appearance. :P

I wonder why they don’t like the taste. Nice what???

Cute Animal Sandwiches Vs Black Black Noodles

Bento, Food 5 Comments »

One of the reasons I was tempted to jump into the boat and started Bento-ing is because of those testimonials from Bento-Mommies that their kids wipe out their Bento lunch box.

Unfortunately, my kids are different. They go for taste not appearance. But I still wanna try it; kids sure love cute stuff right? :P

sandwich

So I made the above cute lil’ animal sandwiches, some trees and stars cheese and pear (i put the pear in another container); I don’t think the above can be called Bento; doesn’t look like one…they are only sandwiches in a container.

They were fighting for the sandwiches in the car on the way to school but the moment they stepped in the car after school they told me that they did not eat their sandwiches because they wanted to eat the Black Black Noodles (Fried Noodles) served by the school.

Anyway, Belle finishes the sandwiches before we reached my mom’s for lunch. Clarissa took the fruit container and kept a piece of the teddy bear sandwich together with it are left untouched; even till now! :(

fruit

So, Cute Animal Sandwiches Vs Black Black Noodles; Black Black Noodles won.

I am waiting for the Bento lunch box to arrive. I hope with nicer presentation they would be tempted to wallop all the food prepared for them. ;)

Bento Mess

Family, Food, Fun 4 Comments »

I received my first Bento Tools from HK yesterday. So I head to the nearest supermarket to buy bread, cheese and chocolate spread.

Upon reaching home, my girls wanted to eat the bread and they wanted a bunny sandwich. So I did one and left the table to catch some opp. While I was busy at the computer, they got themselves busy too. Look what happened to my bread and my Bento Tools!

mess

They made their own bunny, teddy bear and elephant sandwich! I think they thought that those cutters are toys! Thank God I kept the cheese in the fridge already. If they do this often arh, wasting my food, I will need to look for mortgage lenders to refinance my apartment for more money! =P

Gonna make my first Bento breakfast for my girls today. :D

Roti Canai Girl

Clarissa, Food 8 Comments »

roti canai girl

Belle and Barnabas are fast asleep but not Clarissa because she napped late and still fresh at 11pm. So we dragged her along with us for supper! She was so excited to be able to tag along with us. She even told us that she wanted to eat Roti Canai with sugar.

I ordered Roti Bom because it is small and it is prepared with sugar in it. When her Roti Bom arrived, I took away the Curry Dhal gravy from her to give it to her daddy but she pulled it back. I told her that it is hot. She said, “No! I want.”

Look at her eat. Cucuk, Celup, Makan and Minum! She finished half of the gravy. Mine only quarter consumed, the rest I gave it to hubby!

Healthy and Tasty Meal

Education, Food, Health No Comments »

Everyday on the way back home from school I will ask my girls what they had during their 10.15am break. So far I only know that they have 3 menus; either it is thin (rice vermicelli) or fat (yellow noodle) brown noodle or Milo and biscuit. I am so tempted to ask the principal for a better menu since the school fee is quite high. My sister who runs a kindergarten too always prepares good and nutritious food for her kindies. The kindies there are so blessed to have a good cook as their Principal! Anyway, I don’t think I would make a fuss about it since it is only a tea break. :P

Pisang 40 Hari

Food 1 Comment »

pisang 40 hari

This is how the Pisang 40 Hari looks like. I don’t think you can find this type of banana selling at any fruit stall. They are not commercialized. They are smaller than Pisang Emas. Their skin are hard to peel. The inside (the white strips) always got stuck to the flesh but it taste nice, very sweet and smooth.

It is called Pisang 40 Hari or Pisang Masak 40 hari because it takes 40 days for the banana to turn yellow (ripe).

Cannot get hold of any generic Phentermine? Try eating this banana. If your tummy can’t stand it, purging will surely help you loose some weight!

Why is He Purging???

Barnabas, Food, Health 2 Comments »

The moment he woke up, he told me that he wants to ngk ngk (pass motion). He went out of the room and look for Kakak.

Then I changed to him. While standing on the bed, he almost shouted, “Mah-Mee, ngk ngk ah-more (somemore)!!!” He can’t hold it like always coz he is purging very watery stools.

Wash, change and ngk-ngk again right before he entered the car. All in he purges 6 times from the moment he woke up. After giving him the medication around 10am, the purging stops.

At first I thought he ate too much fruits in a day; durian, red and yellow rambutan and langsat. He did the same before but no purging.

Later I saw some bananas on the table; it was Pisang Masak 40 Hari. That is the caused of his purging coz it happened to him every time he ate that type of banana.

Now I wonder who gave him the banana. Maid and MIL denied it, maybe his daddy!

List of Diet Pills

Food, Health No Comments »

For lazy bum like me, diet pills are the only way to loose weight. And…I found the list of best diet pills in the market!!! Who dare try it with me? I know my lady boss would, my colleague also but I am not so in favor swallowing pills. Even those health supplements I often skip. I think I’d rather be a fatty bom bom than swallowing pills before each meal.

Wedding Dinner and Sleeping at Mama’s House

Family, Food No Comments »

Last Saturday, we attended a wedding dinner at EQ. This evening, another wedding dinner at LTP; how to lose weight like that? Since this is gonna be an expensive dinner, it will be such a waste of money with we don’t eat. After this MUST go on diet again. Hmmm…when did I start dieting arh??? Can’t seem to remember.

So tonight, since there won’t be anyone home, the children and the maid will be staying over at my mom’s. They are so happy about it because they seldom get to put up the night at their mama’s house. :D

Angpow for Mama

Barnabas, Belle, Clarissa, Family, Food, Parenting 6 Comments »

Yesterday was my mom’s 53rd birthday. Yes, she is young. She got married at 19yo and got me at 20yo. So you can guess my age already huh? :P

When I told my children that “Today is Mama’s birthday.” This is what they told me, “Mommy, I want to give Mama Angpow.” To my children, birthday gift is Angpow, not Toys because toys they can get almost everytime they go shopping with me!

Well, every year I give my mom’s Angpow too. Easier that way, she can buy what she like with the cash. So this year, I split my Angpow to 3 packets for each of my children. I wonder whether she will use her Angpow money to invest in ademco security product. You know lar, she is getting older and alone at home with her grandchildren during working hour.

mama

Upon reaching my mom’s, they stood in front of my mom and sang her the Happy Birthday song then gave the Angpows to their Mama. Then each of them hug, kiss and told her that they love her. I am so proud of them and my mom too. When my dad returned home my mom proudly told him what her grandchildren did to her. :D

That night all of us went for dinner at Portuguese Settlement. All my siblings and my aunt with her 4 children which my mom used to babysit when they were babies except my 1st sister who is teaching in Kuching .

Chicken Jump Jump

Belle, Clarissa, Family, Food 1 Comment »

Yesterday evening I sent my DoReMi to my mom after hubby left for work so that I can have some ME time. Meaning, sit infront of my laptop and blog in peace. hehe.

When I went to fetch them at 8pm, my girls are missing. They followed my youngest sister for Ikan Bakar, that’s what my mom told me. So I went home with my son.

My girls came home around 10.15pm. The moment they saw me, Belle told me that she ate Chicken Jump Jump. Clarissa said she ate Frog. I did not take that seriously coz Ikan Bakar where got serve frog and maybe Belle ate the Pandan Chicken and saw the chicken “jumping” in the wok.

This morning my mom told me that they ate FROG meat.

They did not go for Ikan Bakar but to a Chinese restaurant. They ordered frog meat dish and let them eat without telling them. They even asked for more. Once they are done eating, my future BIL asked Belle whether she would eat frog. She said “No. So ugly and the skin not smooth one. So geli.” Then only he told Belle that she just ate Chicken that can Jump Jump coz to Belle all meat is Chicken to her. I wonder how was her facial expression when he told her that. :D

Mmmm…I Want To Eat Now

Food, Parenting 1 Comment »

Every mommy would be delighted to hear this line when you put food on the table. Especially if you are the one that prepares it.

That was what Belle said when she saw this…

carrot fried rice

I named this fried rice, Carrot Fried Rice because it has lots of carrots.

Barnabas said, “Mo Mam Mam, Mo Mam Mam” until I place a plate of the Fried Rice infront of him.

Clarissa said, “I want same chair like Barnabas.” He was sitting on a high chair (4 chairs stack together) you see.

After giving them each their plate of fried rice, I sit together and watch them eat. I ate a lil bit only coz hubby and I going dating that night and checking out the espresso machines for the business. ;)

The flesh is thick but I did not try any. Don’t really fancy eating durian. I hate dislike the smell. So schmelly!

Durian is also known for its heatiness. Heaty food is not good for my body. Besides balloon-ing my hemorrhoids, it will also cause breakouts. Then I have to spend money on acne treatment. I’d rather refrain. :P

Ferrero Rocher Gone!

Daddy look! This is what left of the Ferrero Rocher I bought for you yesterday. That’s why I told you to keep at the shop, you don’t want. See what happened now??? I just left it for about 2.5 hours and your 3 little mice helped you finish them.

When interrogated, the eldest said that she and the youngest ate one only. The rest gone to the most mischievous mouse, your dear Clarissa.

She has been asking for it since the moment she saw it but I kept reminding her that, those belong to Daddy and she has to ask Daddy’s permission to eat them. I guess she telepathies to you for permission but you did not get the message. So she assumed that silence means YES.

Snacks for Church

Barnabas, Belle, Clarissa, Dove, Food, Parenting 13 Comments »

Every Sunday when we go to church I will surely bring some food and snacks for my children. We normally don’t have enough time to eat our breakfast at home because we usually wake up later on Sunday and we have to be in church by 10am which we hardly do. :P

Last Sunday was their Daddy’s turn to preach during church service. So I make sure everyone is awake by 8.30am because I do not want the preacher to be late.

I packed extra food because we can’t leave right after the preaching has ended. There might be altar call and hubby needs to pray for them.

This is what I packed for them: 3 fat sausages, 1 full medium size tupperware of Fried Bee Hoon, 3 Bananas and I make sure Barnabas have his milk before we leave.

They wallop all the sausages during the journey to church.

Once we entered the mother’s room, they ask for their Bee Hoon. Gone in 15mins!

15 mins later, they saw the banana. They ate in two batches. By the time their daddy starts to preach, no more food and water (2 milk bottles) for them!

Then they started pooping. Of course they get hungry after that.

During preaching, they wallop other mommy’s snacks; biscuit and cornflakes! Eh! Mommy malu tau!!!

Next Sunday, I am going to fill my Dove tote bag with cornflakes, honey stars, biscuits and chocolates; for them and also for other children too.

Children arh, no matter how nice are our snacks, other people’s snacks still taste better. Hor? Hor?

No Dirty Restaurant

Belle, Food No Comments »

With Belle, we must spend more when it comes to dining out because she refused to eat at dirty places such as hawker stalls or those old restaurant.

Last night, we went to Newton Hawker Stall at Banda Hilir for dinner. The moment we step out of the car, Belle said, “Mommy, I don’t want to eat at dirty places.” But she has no choice lar. :P

Today, I brought my mom to Malim Market to buy some pork and chicken. So we were saying that we shall eat at the food court next to it. Again Belle said, “Mommy, I don’t want to eat at dirty places! I want to eat at clean restaurant.” Her wish came true because the food court is closed today; Malacca Historical City Day.

So I brought them to Old Taste Kopitiam which is in Malim too. She is very happy with it but not Mommy. :( Spent RM22 just for breakfast. If we eat at hawker stalls, half the amount only leh!!! :P

Btw, I can’t deny that the food at Old Taste is good. The White Coffee is also “cow-cow”. I took a sip from my mom’s; I can’t drink coffee. :D I might need the sleep wedge if I drink too much of it.

Fried Egg

Food 6 Comments »

egg

Fried Egg with a dash of dark and light soy sauce is my children’s favorite food.

So far, I have not come across any children that do not like fried egg. Anyone?

Whenever there is no non-chili food for them. I will head to the kitchen and fry the eggs for them.

They will wipe clean every single grains of rice from their plate and if I am not looking, they would even lick their plate after licking clean their fingers.

Finger licking good, more delicious than KFC franchise coz I never see them licking their fingers after eating the KFC fried chicken. :P

Flying Toast

Clarissa, Food, Parenting 4 Comments »

This week is a toast week. Have been eating them for breakfast, tea time, dinner and supper.

If you have watched the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie, there is one scene where the chipmunks were toasting bread and the burnt bread flew out from the toaster and the chipmunks went to hide from being hit by it.

On the first day I made toast for the girls. Clarissa said this, “Mommy, quick run and hide! Wait the bread fly and hit your head!”

She was not laughing and she really look serious and worried when she told me that.

Toast with Margerine and Kaya

Clarissa, Food No Comments »

We (Clarissa and I) sneaked out around 9pm yesterday to go for dinner. On that day, Belle slept 5 mins before 8 after I gave her the sleeping potion. The flu syrup lar. :P Barnabas almost knock down too so I left him with the maid.

I planned to have my dinner at a nearby warong but Clarissa wanted to go to her daddy’s shop. So we went there since tomorrow is not a school day.

toast

I had the Mee Goreng Mamak from the shop next door while Clarissa watched me eat. She had her dinner at home, you see. After I am almost done she asked for Roti Canai. Roti Canai at this hour? Oily lar. So I ordered toast for her knowing that she loves toast. She finished 2 slices of toast minus 2 bites; one from me and one from daddy. :)

Then we head home to sleep. :)

Another Mommy and Daughter night out. :D

Donut Lovers

Family, Food 2 Comments »

My children love donuts. They can eat donut for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Even the plain donut coated with sugar that my dad buys from the Malay stall they will sapu. I think it is because of the sweetness. Most children love sweets right. :)

Well, in Malacca, we don’t have J.Co. or whatever famous donut outlet. We only have Dunkin’ Donuts which I don’t like theirs. I can’t remember why but the first time I tried one, I told myself that I will never buy from them again. That was many years ago.

donuts

This one I got them from a small donut stall in Tesco. The stall is called Honey Donut. They donut looks so beautiful and tempting. I bought half a dozen and the chocolate inside out is way too much for me and my children.

Shopping with Mommy

Belle, Business, Family, Food, Parenting, Shopping 2 Comments »

Hubby buzz me on Gmail chat that his staff not coming to work tonight. So hubby has to work the whole day. Asking me to bring some clothes for him. I went with Belle coz Clarissa was taking her nap, Barnabas was at my mom’s. After he bathe, Belle and myself went shopping to buy “loose hamper” for my parent and ingredients for Nestum Cookies that I plan to make tomorrow. You see I don’t like to buy those ready made hamper coz most of the things are are not my preference and they are expensive.

Before we shop, we fill our tummy at KFC. Belle’s choice. “Mommy, I don’t want ice cream. It is not good for my stomach. My stomach is painful now. I need to eat a little bit. I like chicken.” :D Don’t you wish all our children is like Belle? hehe

kfc

We shared a plate of X-Meal. Chicken for Belle and Zinger for Mommy.

Why can’t we get like this???

Ours looks so “dead”.

Anyway, I am hungry now! Waiting for hubby to come back to go for supper. That will be after 1am!!! No wonder I am FAT! :P

I was busy looking for the stuff in my invisible shopping list (hehe) and Belle kept pestering me to buy her hamster.

“Mommy, I want a hamster, let’s find the hamster house.”
“Mommy told you that you will only get a hamster when you are 7yo. How old are you now?”
“5yo but 5yo also can Mommy.”

To shut her up, I told her that she can buy one thing in the shopping centre. Not toys but something edible. Of all the junk food that she can pick, she chose Ferrero Rocher. “Belle, this chocolate is expensive lar, what about this one?” showed her Vochelle.

rocher

Shake her head, “I want this one. This one very nice Mommy.” Why lar you got so expensive taste??? What to do, promised her already right? Buy lor. :(

bottle

I also bought a smaller purple water bottle for Clarissa coz her current one is too big. Also bought a pink one for Belle coz hers leak from the top that caused her book to get wet.

On the way down from Giant, she grabbed a donut. One small drumstick ain’t enough for Belle. :P

The Making of Pineapple Tarts Filling

Family, Food 8 Comments »

I was surprise to see my BIL came back for bags of grated pineapple. MIL is going to make pineapple tarts this year??? I have been living with her for almost 7 years and I never once seen her make pineapple tarts.

So I asked. She told me that she wanted to try it out. She did make last year with one of her son in laws. So yesterday was the preparation of the pineapple tarts filling. She asked me to call my mom to ask for my mom’s recipe.

I think ah, this year we have maid so there is someone to do all the hard job. Hehe.

Pineapple Tart Mold

Food 5 Comments »

The following is upon request from our soon coming twin’s mommy, Chinnee. :)

tarts

So far I never hear anyone say “NO” to the above unless he/she is not well physically. :P

Because my mom makes pineapple tart, I hardly touch anyone’s else unless they are as good and as neat as my mom’s.

A few year back, they don’t have the ready made flower mold. It is just flat so, we have to “kepit” the side to make the flower. I am so expect at that and I did it neatly and fine too. When I see others doing it so “chor lor” and huge, I will not even touch the tarts even though it tasted nice. Ya ya ya, I am so picky! :P

My girls love pineapple tarts. They will eat till they see none of it left in the container!

mold

Now it comes with the ready made “flower”. So I am out of job. It came just in time after I got married when my mom “lost” a pineapple tart employee. hehehe. To use it, you just need to press it on the flour that has been rolled flat but not so flat lar. Unfortunately the man who made the above mold has passed away. So far my mom knows no one that can make the same. It is made of copper and wood and it cost more than a hundred ringgit for one.

mold1

However you can get the above plastic mold from any shopping centre. Not so nice but as long as got hole, can sumbat.

Recipe for the pastry. No! We did not use lard so, ours is HALAL! ;)

250 Butter or Margerine
6 Egg Yolk
3 White Egg

Will post the step by step when my mom starts making it for CNY.

Now Mommy got companion when Mommy crave for pizza coz the rest of them don’t like pizza. You surely have Mommy’s taste bud. :D

In the car on the way to Pizza Hut, you were very happy and very chatty too knowing that you can get all our attention. We know that, that is what you long for; our undivided attention. Mommy will try to bring you out often, just us, when time permits.

Just look at your expression. So happy to enjoy the ice cream all by yourself. Oh ya, you ate the eyes, and the nose first then followed by the ears. :)

After that we went for grocery shopping at Giant.

One the way home, we talked about you. About how it was so easy to give birth to you and care for you when you were a baby. Mommy was telling daddy that Mommy don’t mind giving birth to 10 like you. You are way too independent. Almost everything you want to do them by yourself. Mommy thinks ah, you pushed yourself out from Mommy’s tummy. That is why it only takes 9 mins to deliver you!

Mommy just wanna to remind you again and again that Mommy will always love you. Can you not be too independent? Sometimes…ok…most of the time Mommy felt not wanted, no needed. :P

I Have 2 Pets

Barnabas, Family, Food, Parenting No Comments »

Even though I lost my Junior many years ago, I did not find a replacement for him. I just do not know how to love another dog again. But God is good instead of one pet; He blessed me with 2 pets. This pet can even talk! They love bones so much.

chewing bones

One of my pet is the above and another one is his dad!

I mentioned that he likes veggie and does not eat meat but he loves to chew on bones! I think he picks this up from his dad. His daddy, after he finishes his rice, if his food comes with chicken or fish, he will chew and suck the bones until no more juice left for the real dog!

Barnabas is doing the same too. He will bite the ligament out, suck and chew whatever left over meat and spit out those that he cannot chew further. So far his teeth are not strong to chew the bone yet. But I think, the time will come.

In a way, all the food that I cook is not wasted. hahahaha

Food Preference

Barnabas, Belle, Clarissa, Food, Parenting 1 Comment »

Few days ago I mentioned how my children enjoyed their cotton candy. Yesterday, I noticed another unique food eating pattern. I have a meat eater, a rice eater and a veggie eater.

tempra

I cooked chicken dish for them (Ayam Tempra).

Gave Belle a drumstick and some rice. She ate them all. She loves meat.

Knowing that Clarissa does not really like meat, I only peel some meat for her but she removed them all from her plate then only started eating her rice.

buncis

As for Barnabas, after 2 spoons of rice, he pull the plate of veggie (fried french beans) near him and started chewing them one by one. He did not swallow the veggie though, just suck out the juice and spit the beans out.

Oh ya, both my girls don’t like veggie. When persuaded to eat, they will take some. Even tells me that “Veggie is good. Make you strong and healthy.” Chew them and spit it out. They just can’t swallow their veggie. *sigh*

hold hand

Do you notice his hand holding my wrist? He will grab hold of my wrist and will never let it go until he has enough of the food that I am feeding him. This happen on 2 occasions. One when he is really hungry and the other when the food is his favorite.

This is because he doesn’t allow me to feed his sisters. Sometimes Clarissa would want some, so I will bring the bowl/plate near to her mouth and feed her so that the food won’t drop/spill on the floor. Barnabas will quickly pull that hand back to him.

On that day, I am feeding him Taufuhua. After a few feed and his sister kept asking for it too, he grabbed hold my other hand that is holding the spoon and feed himself quickly!

Hello! Next time when you grow older, must learn to share with your sister ok?!

Well, well, well, the holiday season is here. The school holiday started today. Thanksgiving will be on November 22 then Christmas on December 25 followed by New Year 2008! This is also the mark of the beginning of spending money, buying gifts and feasting.

It is easy to buy gifts for children, just get them any toys they would be happy but for their parents, the only special gift that I can think of is the gourmet basket. Yup, FOOD!!! Don’t buy photo frame, towels, bottles, containers etc, they have lots of it. Buy chocolates, cookies and fruits, food will always makes people happy unless you have no teeth to eat lar.
