Classic Menu for Office 2007

Computers & Internet No Comments »

Life is easier if things are simple and familiar to us. We get irritated and frustrated trying to learn new things that are so very complicated. The term “user-friendly” should fulfill its purpose when we try out new gadgets or products. And this is especially true if you are talking about computer products and/or softwares. It amazes me that many software programming companies would announce a new program that is user-friendly when it is actually the opposite. The user would have to read in details the manual book and hopefully he can understand the terms and jargons used in the manual book or else he would be scratching his head continuously.

Remember Mommy’s Password

Computers & Internet No Comments »

This blog and my others blog eventually will go to my children. Since these blogs are generating some income, this will be my inheritance for them. These blogs will not end when my life on earth ended. I would want them to continue for their children and children’s children. What a big dream, I have. :D

I wonder whether I need to get the password vault, so that they do not have to remember so many passwords and so that they won’t forget them; especially to login to my blog advertising accounts. But what if they have no interest in blog??? Got interest in earning money enough already eh. That will motivate them to blog.

Use VoIP Phone Systems To Save Cost

Business, Computers & Internet, Finance No Comments »

Time is bad now, everything is increasing price and companies are looking for ways to reduce cost. I hope not through retrenchment. We all need the money to feed our children.

If your company is using call center phone systems, I have an information about how you can reduce cost using by the VoIP phone systems from Xpander Communications.

With the Xpander’s Nimbus VoIP Call Center Edition you can say good bye to large upfront capital investment, an extremely long time to wait for the installation, and an extreme amount of site maintenance and labor. All this saves a lot of cost. If you want to know more detail about it, please visit www.xpandercommunications.com.

Slow Loading

Belle, Computers & Internet No Comments »

Sometimes when Belle playing her Elmo online game she will complaint that her game loads very slow unless she plays it using my laptop, then she has no complaint. Due to it, she prefers my laptop than the desktop. :(

Is the slowness due to the ram or the processor? I am not a computer geek so I am not so sure which to upgrade. The ram or processor. Btw, processor can upgrade eh?

Lingerie Webstore, Anyone?

Computers & Internet, Finance No Comments »

I know a blogger that has a webstore that sells lingerie but I was so surprise to learn that another blogger friend of mine; a guy, senior citizen just started a webstore that sells lingerie too!

It seems that lingerie is selling like hot cakes over the internet. That is why he jumped into this lucrative business. He even offers to guide me on how to start one. I have to put that on hold first. I need to spend as much as my time with my children; no time to promote this kinda business. ;)

Security System

Computers & Internet No Comments »

More and more pictures and videos have been uploaded to my laptop. My laptop has become more precious to me each day because my children’s photos are in there. JasonMumbles buzz me on MSN yesterday asking whether I print the pictures in my digital camera, I told him that I did not. Maybe I should print some of the nicer ones. I do not have any computer security software. If any viruses or spywares invade my laptop, cry also no point. Another option is to get the Anti Virus, Anti Spyware, Exploits, and Firewalls, all in one security software. Now, which one is more cost saving, print or NOD32?

Educate Yourself About Web Hosting

Computers & Internet No Comments »

Actually this blog of mine is a courtesy of a very good friend of mine. That is why I won’t and cannot sell this blog because it not mine but his, in away. So I never have to scratch my head looking for domain and webhosting company even when I decided to buy my own domain. I let him host for me. He is a web developer. :)

If you decided to do away with your free blog and get your own domain, which I recommend that you should and looking for web hosting company or even to learn more about web hosting, please visit webhostingchoice.com first. There you will learn the reason why not to go for cheap web hosting, web hosting scams, what are bandwidth and much more. Get yourself educate first rather than you whine later that the web hosting company trick you or not reliable etc. After that, then only you decide which package that would suit you best.

Security Software for My Laptop

Computers & Internet No Comments »

Since Belle and Clarissa are using my laptop, I never know what they click or accidentally click when they play their favourite online game. I am not so worry about viruses because I have anti program installed. I am more worried about spyware and adware that might sneak into my system when or if the accidentally download something from the website. I understand from hubby that there is a security software called NOD32 that has the Anti Virus, Anti Spyware, Exploits, and Firewalls. I hope they come free but they are not. Well good things do not come free these days.

Another Computer Table for Us

Belle, Computers & Internet, LoLa No Comments »

After buying the laptop, we now share the same computer table with the existing one. It is not comfortable because the computer table is meant for one computer only. Since my laptop is small, it occupies the end of the table and it only has a small space for my mouse. A few times when Belle wanted to “shake” the mouse for the cursor to get back into position, she accidentally dropped the mouse!

lan racks

Maybe I should get on of the above LAN Racks. Then Belle can “shake” as hard as she wants and it won’t drop. There is also space for her to place her favorite drink and snacks while she plays her online game with her daddy.

carts

I wonder whether I can get these LAN Racks in Malaysia. I don’t see any in the furniture shop that I went to recently. But I seen a lot of computer carts. I doubt she is tall enough to reach it unless I get the adjustable one for her. :)

Belle’s Laptop

Belle, Computers & Internet, Parenting 2 Comments »

When we bought the laptop, we told Belle that the laptop is only for Mommy and Daddy to do work. She cannot play her game on the laptop. But after using the laptop for 2 days I realized that the LCD screen is better for the eyes. My eyes are not so easily tired and felt more soothing compared to CRT monitor

laptop

So now, the laptop is hers and the desktop is mine.

Thinking to change the CRT monitor to LCD screen because we can’t find the filter for 19” Monitor. Anyone wants to buy my 19” monitor.

elmo

La la la la. Elmo is Belle first online game when she was 2yo. She started with the ABC. This is where she learnt how to recognize the alphabets. Clarissa has started to play the same recently. Well I did not let her earlier coz she wasn’t interested. She is not the sit still type of girl.

Now Belle has graduated from SesameStreet.org. The game is too simple for her.

Barracuda Networks, Inc. is the worldwide leader in email and Web security appliances. They have more than 50,000 companies, including Coca-Cola, FedEx, Harvard University, IBM, L’Oreal, NASA, and Europcar, are protecting their networks with Barracuda Networks solutions.

Now they are even more “powerful” with the recent acquisition of NetContinuum, the leading provider of Web Application Firewalls. It is because with the addition of NetContinuum’s award-winning products to Barracuda Networks’ product portfolio puts the company in a strong position to expand customer adoption of Application Delivery Controllers (ADC).

myscene

This is Belle’s last online game addiction, MyScene.com. Her cousins from Ipoh introduced it to her during the last school holiday and since then this is will be the first game she will play.

There is also a link to Barbie.com from that website. All the girlie stuff inside there like applying nail polish, grooming your pets, dressing up games etc. I also do not know what else is in there.

She explore the site by herself, click here, click there and try an error to see which can work and which cannot. She also figures out how to play the games by herself. :)

Website Optimization Firm

Computers & Internet, LoLa 2 Comments »

Hubby once started a website or more of a homepage about us. I think it is free from Geocities. With the minimal knowledge that he has about html and web design, he created the website. It was quite a decent looking website.

He has high hopes that many will come to visit his website and send emails to congratulate him for designing that website. Boy… was he wrong and disappointed.

After must waiting finally he realized that nothing is going to happen. Nobody is going to visit the website unless they can find it in the search engines. Then only he told me about the website. It was supposed to be a surprise to me you know.

After reading so much about SEO since I started writing paid post, I know a lil bit about website optimization firm and how they can help get websites to be one of the high ranking website on the net. However, it is
not cheap to be one of the high ranking website on the net. That requires lots of money and expertise. And it would be easier to engage a website optimization firm to do the job for you. If you are thinking of doing that, do check out ThinkBigSites.com.

Rewards Makes Customer Come Back

We all love to receive rewards especially when shopping. We will look for discounts, free gifts, money back cash rewards like vouchers and when doing online shopping we will hunt for the coupon codes.

If you are having an online business, you should consider the above to attract more customers. I read that Webloyalty generates new revenues for its clients by rewarding customers who make purchases. You can earn an extra $.50 to $2.00 per transaction on your websites and generate a lift of up to 12 percent in repeat transactions.

Wondering how it works? Hop over to webloyalty for more information for successful online business.

Page Rank and Expired Domains

Computers & Internet, Finance, LoLa 1 Comment »

Even though I have 5330 websites (I got the figure from wholinkstome) linking to this blog, my Page Rank has been demoted to PR2 from PR4. After going to other blogs I realized that it is not due to the blogroll (will be putting back my blogroll on my sidebar). It is not because of writing paid post too because I saw a few blogs with so many paid post having PR4 too. Then I realized that they do not sell text link on their homepage.

But then I sell only one. Few days ago while blog hopping I found out that some Wordpress templates come with paid text links at the bottom of the homepage! That must be the culprit. So I took it out. Hoping that my PR will increase again in the next Google update. If not, cannot get much side income with writing paid post with only PR2.

Do you know that some who does online business, buys expired domains? Normally they will buy the high PR domain and then redirecting the traffic to their own site or creates several small websites using these expired domain names. If you are interested, you can get the expired domain name lists from DeleteLive.com. You can search for expired or expiring domains by PageRank, keyword, deletion date. You will be able to view Google backlinks, domain age, WayBack Machine data, WHoIs data and more. There is also a good article about the importance of keywords in a domain and other SEO related articles.

I must spend time going through it to learn how to get more traffic to this blog. :)

Protect Your Children with Surf Knight

Belle, Computers & Internet, Parenting 1 Comment »

I bought a laptop so that I can use it for blogging. Along the way back from the computer shop, Belle, my four years old daughter asked me, “Mommy, you buy computer for me?” Immediately I replied her, “No. That is not for you. It is Mommy’s computer. Only Mommy can touch it.” :P

This is the modern era where most of the games that our children know how to play are computer games. My daughter already know how to switch on the computer, find the website of her favorite game and play the game, all by herself. When I was her age, I was out in the village catching fish or spiders or even climb a tree.

There are many internet filters out there in the market. These filters are necessary especially when the children are allowed to be on the net. The present filters that come together with the web browser do not really do a good job. Previously, there is no web browser that is catered for children users. Now there is Surf Knight web browser specifically for the children.

The good thing about this browser is that you can control what you want the children to see. The key features of Surf Knight web browser are the Locked Mode, Page Blocker, Download blocker and Navigation logger. I like this web browser as it is really meant for the children. I can decide what and where my children can surf when they are online. Other web filter like Net Nanny is good but a bit more difficult to use.

The down side of Surf Knight is that it is only available for Windows XP and Vista operating system. Those who have Mac or Linux would find difficulty in installing this browser. Another down side is the amount of memory that is being used by this web browser is too big. Not many computers have 1GB RAM. This is indeed a major factor that would determine whether people would continue using it for the long run.

Download it for free and try it out. It might be the web browser that you are looking for your children.

My Children’s Laptop?

Barnabas, Belle, Clarissa, Computers & Internet, Parenting 1 Comment »

Yesterday we dragged along my ABC to the computer shop to buy my first laptop. As we were entered the shop, Belle asked me what are we doing there. I told her that we are here to buy a laptop for myself to work at home.

“Mommy, my laptop is so small and the picture cannot see anymore. Buy one new and big laptop for me please?”

“Mommy! Mommy! I was a Purple laptop.” You can guess who said this line.

laptop

Not only I am excited to own a laptop now but my children are more excited. They hoard the laptop. I can only use it when Barnabas is asleep.

can i blog

Look at his fingers and the look on his face. As though he is saying to me, “Mommy, can I blog too, please…?”

Thank God it is holiday now and my office is closed till Thursday. If not, I will badly need my office PC at home because all my 3 children are sick and I can’t go to office. I understand that RemotePC offers secure remote access to windows PCs from anywhere via internet. With RemotePC, I can now access my office PC from anywhere in the world as long as there is internet access at that location.

This is how it works, from my computer, I can view the desktop of the RemotePC enabled computer (my office PC) and using my computer’s keyboard and mouse launch applications, read emails and edit documents as though I am directly working on that remote computer (my office PC). Quite simple ya. I may try their 30 days free trial. :D

Link Building To Get Higher Page Rank

Computers & Internet, Menceceh No Comments »

Most of us bloggers who make money through blogging are familiar with writing reviews for websites, contextual links, text link advertising and directory submission. Do you know the purpose of doing all that besides getting paid for it? From the advertiser’s perspective, we are helping them to boost their link popularity so that their websites can have higher Page Rank and also higher placement in major search engines like Google and Yahoo.

Now I know why some bloggers spend money on link building in which I have been totally ignorant about by just contacting other bloggers to link me. Maybe I do not work hard enough on this blog link building that cost my Page Rank to drop from 4 to 3. Maybe it is time for me to consult professional SEO website like Submitawebsite.com who offers services and campaigns to accomplish these fundamental Link Building strategies. Well, we have to be willing to spend some money to make more money right? :P

Mommy Always Forget

Computers & Internet, Menceceh, Work No Comments »

After giving birth to 3 children, I become more and more forgetful. Some says, the children take some of mommy’s memory away but I think when you have 3, you have more things on your mind. Instead of thinking about one child’s need, now I have 3 children’s need to think about.

At work, many times my colleague has to remind me whether I have done the backup for the companies file on the computer and many times I forgot! Thank God there is Online Backup like IBackup. With it, I can schedule regular online backups. IBackup for Windows makes it really easy to automatically select critical user data such as Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, My Documents, Financial Files and other office files with file selection wizards. For those who are not a “computer geek”, IBackup has easy-to-use wizards for interactive backups, restores and backup/restore scheduling.

Do You Want To Be Up There?

Computers & Internet No Comments »

I started blogging in this blog since July 2004. At that time this blog is solely for journaling my pregnancy and Belle’s progress. I never knew what Page Rank is. Didn’t know that it existed until I was introduced to making money blogging end of last year. Then I discovered that I have a Page Rank of 4. Wow! PR4, I didn’t do anything to get that rank, I just blog and blog hop, met a lot of wonderful blogger out there. Did not even submit this blog to any blog community or ping service.

But if you are just started a blog and wanted at least PR1 in less than 3 months, then you got to work really hard. It took me 3 years to get PR4!

Blogging is like a business now; we want our blog to be at the top of Google’s search results because advertiser will sure give high pay out for you to write for them or just for a link on your sidebar. If you want all this, search engine marketing is what you should be thinking about but of course you must be willing to spend a lil bit more to pay Search Engine Marketing companies like USWeb to get your blog “up there”.

Belle Will Blog

Belle, Computers & Internet, Parenting, Work No Comments »

On the way back from kindy yesterday, Belle was singing. I sang along with her but I got it wrong. She scolded me…”Mommy, you don’t know. You didn’t go to school.” Well, I told her that I have completed my schooling and now need to work to earn money. So I told her that one day she will need to work too. “I don’t want, Mommy. I shy.” Shy again! Then she told me that she does not need to work because she has money in the bank. I told her that she needs to work in order to have money in the bank.

Somehow the conversation went to email and blogging.

“Mommy, when I grow up I can check email and blog like Mommy?”

“Yes”

“I can blog too???”

“Yes”

“Mommy, why you blog?”

“Mommy writes about you, Clarissa and Barnabas in Mommy’s blog and sometimes people pay Mommy money to blog about other things.”

“Mommy, next time when I grow up, I want to blog too. Then I can have money to put in the bank.”

Oh NO! Since she is always shy, maybe she will just hide behind the computer and earn her living. :P

Fully Protected

Computers & Internet No Comments »

One of the most irritating experiences for me is when my office computer was infected by a virus. Recently, the Firefox Hate virus (not the official virus name but the name I would give) infected my office computer. It gives me lots of problem and I prefer to use Firefox browser instead of other browsers. When I tried to use Firefox, a dialog box would appear and on it were written, “I do not have anything against Firefox… but use Internet Explorer….” I wonder whether the creator of this virus is working for Internet Explorer.

My office computer network is not really fully protected from attacks by viruses and hackers. Each computer does not have all the necessary programs like anti virus, anti spyware, and firewall. My boss should install NOD32 for all the computers to prevent any threats to the office computers. It is a small price to pay to keep the company’s data and files safe and secure.

New Skin for My Blogspot

Computers & Internet, Menceceh 5 Comments »

If you visit my blog at Blogspot, you might notice that I change the skin numerous times. After I get bored with the ready made skin by Blogspot, I tried an XML template from another website but after 2 days, the words that have link is not noticeable. My bayar post is rejected because they cannot see my links! So I changed to another one. The background is beautiful, however maybe time my blog is uploaded without the background. It comes in plain white background. Maybe there is something wrong somewhere. I am not HTML expert, I just don’t know how to fix that and now I changed it back to another skin but it is just OK to me. I want something more outstanding.

I was looking around for software that can help me create my own skin. The one that you just pick and choose what you want, hit the enter button and then Walla! I got the HTML code for me to copy and paste in my blog template.

I found Pagefetti.com! It is a place to get layouts, generators, glitter graphic, new skins for your music players and pimped out frames for your photos and videos. All things you’ll find on this site are compatible with Myspace, Hi5, Blogger and Zwinky. With pagefetti, changing the color, style and layout of your page is so simple plus it has 100’s of different layouts to choose from.

However every time I click on the download button, I am directed to the Smiley Central page. I just hope that it will be fixed soon. I can wait to get a new skin for my Blogspot blog. ;)

Free Chat Room for Mommies

Computers & Internet No Comments »

When I started blogging, most of my blogger friends are the singles from Singapore. I was not interested in reading Malaysian blogs because most of the blogs that I know of write about politic. I am so not into politic.

Then slowly I came to know that they are a lot of Mommy Blogger and some Daddy blogger like me; blogging about our children minus the political issue. However, I still keep in touch with my Singaporean bloggers, they are my first blogger friends. And it is so nice reading about their single lifestyle which I left behind 6 years ago. :P

My university junior asked me one day, why am I not reading the mommies blog? Because I do not know there’s any at that time! Since then, I made quite a number of blogger friends that are mommies. Whenever we are in the office, besides blog hopping, we will chat on MSN. I think we should form one community in WireClub where we all mommies can meet there and chat. They are offering free chat rooms. We can also meet our friend’s friends and make more new friends. For those who does not have a blog yet. You can start one too are WireClub. It’s free for life.
