No More Shee-Shee
Clarissa, Education, Parenting October 31st, 2007When I went to fetch the girls from kindy just now, one of their teachers told me that Clarissa can speak Chinese. You see, they don’t really teach 3 years old to speak Mandarin. They are there to learn the ABC, painting, colouring, singing, dancing and playing.
The teacher told me that she longer say, “Teacher I want to shee-shee.” Instead she said, “Lau Se, Wo Yau Chi Siau Pian.” corrected by Chooi Peng “Lau Si, Wo Yao Qu Xiao Bian.” She said the one I wrote means I want to eat urine!
I told you I am banana.
Her teacher is so proud of her. Mommy too!

There’s a benefit to learning a second language, especially in an English-only environment. Both my children know how to refer to their ‘privates’ but when they were young, they’d only know what they’d be called in Cantonese slang! Hahahah. It prevented a lot of embarassing situations indeed. Colin
