The above chair may look simple but it is one of the most stylish and elegant pieces of modern furniture of the 20th century. It was designed by Mies van der Rohe for the German Pavilion in the 1929 World’s Expo in Barcelona, Spain. Maybe that’s where the chair got its name.

Barcelona Chair is made of genuine Italian leather and stainless steel. I read from Wikipedia that the retail price for a stainless steel unit is approx. USD5k! This is one expensive chair. No wonder it has the reputation of being “a design worthy of kings”. The price that only kings can afford without feeling the pinch! hehe.
