A lot of women develop Varicose Veins during pregnancy. However, that’s not the case with me. I develop varicose vein when I was working as a cashier. The prolong standing caused it to appear at the back of my thigh. If you get it due to pregnancy, normally it improves within three or four months after giving birth. Like mine, it is still there since it first appeared like 10 years ago!

With the advance technology, varicose veins can now disappear over a period of a month through endovenous laser treatment (ELT). This can be done at the Southwest Vein & Laser Institute. With the assistance of ultrasound, a small catheter is inserted into the greater saphenous vein (a large vein in the inner thigh); a thin laser fiber is threaded into the catheter and laser energy is delivered through the fiber into the vein, causing the vein to close. The entire procedure can be performed in less than an hour under local anaesthesia.
