Choose your bank carefully
Menceceh, Mumbles July 28th, 2007My husband had many bad experiences with the bank. Recently, we wrongly estimated the balance of our money in our current account and we had to pay a high penalty for that. We issued out a cheque that was slightly more than the amount left in one of our current accounts. The bank officer called my husband to bank in money to cover the difference. My husband immediately transfered the money online from another account.
The next day, much to our surprise we were charged a penalty of RM50 for that short period of “lack of money”. Hubby sent an email to the bank about this matter and asking for bank charges refund. The bank replied asking us to write a letter to the bank branch manager which hubby did. Now we are waiting for their reply. So far it has been two weeks and they have yet to reply to us.
This is definitely not one off incident. Another friend of mine has experienced the same problem. However, she paid the bank charges without appealing to the bank for cancellation. I hope that those who experienced the same problem would voice out the matter to the higher authorities. There must be restrictions on banks so that they would not simply charge high fees to the customers.
