Protect our children on the internet
Family, Parenting February 25th, 2007I’ve been tagged by EastCoastLife. Don’t worry, I won’t shoot you. Own no gun anyway.
The project Blogger Power is a campaign to safegard the internet for children against pornography.
A Request To All Webmasters Of Adult Sites:
“Please require a password-protected login before allowing even free access to explicit adult content. We understand that selling porn is your business and we respect your right to make a legal living. But understand our legitimate concerns and work with us. You already have the “warning adult content†on your websites. Yet kids, who are not legal customers of your product, ignore the warning. So to prevent them from having direct access to explicit images, texts and sounds, the simplest way is to have a password-protected login. No more “free tours†before a visitor supplies basic information.”
I have to tag 20 bloggers to participate in this champaign :
beckysmum, chief, dead fox, egghead, huisia, , ivy, jess2princess, kevin, leishia, msau, mumsgather, montessorimum, mylilventure, rainforestng, shannonchong, shooi, sweetpea, themusicinside, willwolf, zara n zaria.

Hi Miche, thanks for tagging me on this, however in my opinion, the best way to safeguard our children on the Internet is to elect responsible Leaders with high moral standard.
In 1996, I was with National Computer Board (Singapore) promoting the use of the Internet. Internet access was given to top 2 men/women of all Ministries and some key stat boards in Singapore. The person in charge of the project kept access log and wanted to publish the top 10 most visited sites by our key civil servants & ministers. At the end of the 3 month period, the 10 top most visited sites list could not be publicly announced.
Why? Cause, most of the sites visited were pornography sites. I do not think such initiatives are effective if policies makers themselves were visitors. Just my 2 cents worth.
