Pantang
General August 17th, 2006The meaning of “Pantang” here is to abstain from certain type of food.Â
I am waiting for the very day when I can eat everything that is edible. That will be another 1 to 2 months time. My lady boss advised that I should pantang for at least 3 months.
Below are the foods that I cannot take to prevent the abscess from recurring:
1. Eggs - that includes everything that has eggs in it. No cakes, no cookies, no muffins. No Wantan Mee also.
2. Chicken - No Kenny Roger’s, No KFC, No Pizza, No Delifrance.
3. Seafood - except fish but only certain type of fish I can eat. So far I have been eating Ikan Jenak & Ikan Parang only.
4. Shrimp paste - Belacan. In Baba-Nyonya cooking, we use belacan in our chili dishes. So, no sambal, asam pedas and kangkong belacan for me. No nasi lemak also. Nasi lemak won’t taste nice without the sambal. No Ikan Bakar, eating ikan bakar is not complete without the nasi lemak.
5. Beans - And every dishes and food that has beans and nuts in it. No Satay Celup too coz the gravy has peanuts in it.
6. Beef - No McD, No Burger King.
So, basically I can only eat fried or steam fish (only 2 kinds), pork and stir fried vege with garlic only.
No wonder I loose weight extremely fast. I am very thin now. I look like a sick person to me. The weight lost is too drastic. I am happy that I am slimmer now but I still can’t believe that I’m back to my original size before I got pregnant with Belle. Almost…coz I’m still breastfeeding. So, that top portion is still big..hehe.
I am going to dig back my good old clothes that I have put away after giving birth to Belle. I love my “slim time” clothing. *grin*
To have this body now, I suffered excruciating pain! If I were given a choice I rather be fat.

so, how much do you pump? I just wonder cause my co worker says she breastfeeds her babe at 5 pm, and at 8 pm, she pumps 12 ounces! I need about 7 hours to accumulate 6 ounces.

jess ~ i got pus that’s why HAVE TO pantang everything.
dead fox ~ below is my routine:
morning b4 office (7.30am - 8am), i’ll get him to suck…if he doesnt, I’ll express (no pumping for me coz it hurts my nipple) at 10am in the office. It will usually take 10-15 mins to get 2.5 to 3 ounces. Then at around 12.15pm, right b4 lunch break at 12.30pm, I’ll express again for another 2.5 to 3 ounces. Then I’ll go home for lunch. If he is awake, I’ll let him suck, if not I’ll express again around 4pm. This time I’ll get around 3.5 to 4 ounces. After office hour (5.30pm), he will be on my breast all the way till the next morning. Normally 4 times.
so basically, the max i get is 10 ounces…on single breast. i think i can get more once my left breast is completely healed and i’ll start letting him drink from there to get the milk coming.

OK that seems reasonable to me. My colleague freaked me out with her 12 ounces in 3 hours!!!

wow! 12 ounces in 3 hours??? Her baby must drink a lot for that amount to be produced in short time.
