I think many have heard about this:
A group of people is given a cup of water that is half filled. When asked what do they see? Some say, the cup is half empty and some half full. That’s how many of us look at life. The +ve side (half full) or the -ve side (half empty).
Earlier I did mention that I do not want to make any resolution for this year. But as a family, we decided to have one. At least by end of this year we know that we have achieved something besides seeing our girls grow up or having more of them. kekeke.
Our resolution is: Half Filled/Full Cup. Looking at everything that happens in a positive way.
Let me give an example. This actually happened yesterday.
I went to buy breakfast. 3 packets of Nasi Lemak. One for me, one for Belle and one for MIL. The moment I reached home, I informed my MIL that I bought a packet for her. She acknowledged that. Later I saw her cooking Fried Banana. After that, she makes for herself a cup of Milo and enjoying the Fried Banana. Then she asked me, “The Nasi Lemak got extra ah?” I said, “Yes”.
I was a lil bit annoyed by her action. It’s like, I already told you that I bought a packet for you and then you go fry the Fried Banana and then asked me some more whether the Nasi Lemak got extra or not. If you, you angry or not?
Anyway, she ate Belle’s half, just not to offend me I guess.
If my mind, I was planning to complain to my husband and inform him that “from today onwards, I am not going to buy breakfast for your mother again for this is not the first time it happened.”
Then I remembered our resolution. So… my half filled cup is… I get to eat another packet of the delicious Nasi Lemak for lunch. Yippie!
I told all the above to hubby but not as a complain. I just hope by end of this year I will be able to have better character.
