Happy Birthday To Me!

Food 16 Comments »

Below is what I had for my birthday apart from pizza from Shakey’s for lunch.

So much for ambience, we ended up at Medan Ikan Bakar, Sg Duyung. I just could not bring myself to allow hubby to treat me dinner at a 5 star hotel. Too costly. Maybe for his birthday (in 2 weeks time) I’ll treat him dinner at a 5 start hotel. hehe.

As you can see from the above pix, the amount of dishes is good for 4 people but only the 2 of us eating them!

The dishes are:

1. 300g of Sipahat, do not know the English name for it…let me call it Straw Oyster since it look like oyster trapped in a straw.
2. Fried Kailan with Salted Fish.
3. Sweet Sour Crab, 2 big ones.
4. 300g of Squid fried with Chili.
5. Nasi Lemak (rice cooked in coconut milk). They served 6 packet of it, I ate one, the rest hubby, finished it!
6. Of course we have Ikan Bakar, 1kg of Jenak grilled with chili.

Golden Sands, PD

We were at Golden Sands for the OMF Mission Conference. Well, I did not benefit much from the conference as most of the time I have to keep my 2 girls entertained or nap with them. But I gained much rest there. hehehe.

At The Beach

This is the first time Kiki walk on the sand. The moment we put her down, she walked towards the water! After feeling the wave splashing on her feet, she wanna go further in. Belle kept pulling me away from the water. So I have Kiki on my right, pulling me in, and Belle on my left, pulling me out! After telling Belle, “Look your baby is so brave, she is not scared of the water” Then only she stood in the water for a lil while.

Kiki then discovered sand. She took a handful of it, look at it, show it to mommy, put it back down. Took another handful, look at it, and tasted it! Yup, she ate sand.

At the conference

Notice the cute lil angmoh girl, Georgia…she is 14 months old and her dad is one of the speaker. Kiki being the extrovert one, approached her and stated a conversation with her. Baby talk of course. Later she was amazed by the fairness of the lil girl’s dad. Georgia’s dad carried her and put on his lap and she kept staring at his face. She must be wondering, “How come your beard is white in colour? My daddy’s is black?”

Next was the papaya eating session in our room. My girls love papaya.

Henna

That’s Belle feet, not mine. Her Punjabi cousin, Hilda (9 years old) came back from Ipoh for her aunt’s wedding in Malacca. During the wedding she learnt the skill and practised it on hubby’s and Belle’s feet.

Steamboat

Last night we had steamboat. Yummy.

Baby Dylan’s dad came back from Kuching with big big prawns and decided to have steamboat. Mom and sis went to the fishball’s factory at Taman Merdeka to get some more stuff.

I was too hungry by the time it is ready that I forgotten to snap pictures of the steamboat. By the time I remembered…finish already. :)

Let to right:
My favourite cousin, Jacklyn and Baby Shavina’s mommy. When Jacklyn was a baby, my mom babysits her and I become her 3rd mommy. Now my Kiki is so attached to her. Kiki is her baby now!

The stuff that they fried.

The one and only prawn left in the steamboat pot.

Belle frying some meat for her daddy. Her daddy went to a funeral service in PD, he only came to fetch us home around 11.30pm. So, we “tapau” (take-away) some for him.

Belle with my cousins. Yes, her Ee Ee & Ku Ku. My mom’s niece and nephew. Ok…clear now. hehehe. They are showing of the the whale that they built.

Kiki is sleeping with Belle nowadays so that daddy and mommy can sleep together. :D

PD here I come

Will be in PD from tomorrow till Sunday. Nice private beach with soft white sand. If the sea water is clear, I might go for a dip with Belle.

Actually will be there for an OMF Mission Conference, sponsored by the church.

The only thing on my mind now is “How to keep my girls occupied during the conference?”

Kiki is walking already. She does fall sometimes but she tried to run 2 days ago! She is too fast! Must get some new toys for her. She is bored with the existing ones. But I don’t know what kind of toys that will make her sit still and play with it?

Belle is into painting and coloring now. So far she is able to join the dots for the alphabet A and O. I wonder whether there is such a book that has the letter A from first page till the end? hehehe.

******

When shopping yesterday with Belle. Bought 2 sets puzzles, Alphabet book, a sticker book, a stationary set and some titbits for the girls.

Wanted to buy some more clothes for Belle. Not many pretty clothes around there. I saw a so-so top and a pants. I asked Belle, “What do you think of this?” Pointing to it. Her replied, “Not nice!” Ok…I push the trolley to another section (Belle is sitting in the trolley).

I saw a pretty pink long sleeve t-shirt with ribbons on it. Look sweet but nothing extra-ordinary about it. I asked, “Is this pretty?” Belle replied, “Not pretty!”

I respected her taste and opinion. If she says “not nice” or “not pretty”, better don’t buy for her, she will never wear it! I have a few pairs at home that is pretty to mommy but not to her, is waiting for Kiki to grow big enough to fit in it! Hopefully, Kiki won’t be as choosy as her sister.

Last Saturday, my youngest sis and her boyfriend went to Ipoh to bring Baby Shavina home. SIL had her confinement there, her hometown.

On Sunday, received SMS from my sis, “Where is the Dim Sum restaurant in Penang?” I was like, “Hah??? You are in Ipoh or Penang? Ipoh have one famous Dim Sum restaurant, what?” So I called her, true enough, they are in Penang…detoured. I told her I can’t remember the name of the road but it is somewhere in Pulau Tikus.

I feel like I wanna cry! I want to be there too!!!

Then I started dreaming about the Nasi Goreng Belacan and Fried Hor Fun from Bayan Baru Food court, the one near Bukit Jambul Shopping Complex. Then the Ikan Bakar at Teluk Tempoyak. I miss the sauce, chili padi with tamarind juice. The Nasi Goreng Ikan Masin, Maggi Goreng and Roti Bom from Suri’s. The Fried Kuay Teow served on banana leave with big big prawns, the juicy steak from ‘i can’t remember the restaurant’s name’. Then all the food that I ate almost everyday in the campus’ canteens.

I miss Penang food!

Hey Dear…my birthday you bring me to Penang makan can or not?

Annabelle cannot see

Belle 6 Comments »

I went to fetch my girls on Saturday after work, my mom asked, “You teach you daughter not to look at KFC is it?” I was like “Hah??? Why should I?”

Then my sis told me that she brought Belle shopping, as they passed by KFC, my sis told her; “Look KFC” Belle replied “Annabelle cannot see!” Then Belle walked further ahead and exclaimed “Belle can see”.

Haiya, maybe what she heard from my sis is “Can you see?” instead of KFC, that is why she replied like that!

Anyway, fast food like KFC or McDonald is still not an interest to Belle yet. She prefers rice or kuay teow.

Later my sis wanted to buy some fruit jelly for Belle, at the cashier counter, she asked “Ee Ee got money to pay or not?” hehehe…how thoughtful of her! i mean my Belle lar.

On Birthday

Food 16 Comments »

My birthday is coming and hubby wanted to treat me for a buffet dinner at Renaissance Hotel in town. Well, I like the idea coz never had buffet there but on second thought, I decided not to. I am a small eater; the most I’ll go is 2nd round and my “rounds” are small too. For the amount of money that he has to pay, not worth the ringgit and cents.

2nd option is ala carte dinner where there are appetizer, main-course and dessert and nice background music. Here, you can only get this in hotels restaurant and it will cost more than buffet dinner. Not that we cannot afford it but it will be such a waste of money.

For this kind of occasion I don’t really like celebrating it at bistro or crowded place. Ambience not there. Furthermore, your dessert might be served first and the appetizer last!

Maybe I’ll settle for a quiet dinner near the seaside.

Troubled

Marriage 10 Comments »

Many things happened recently. Happy moments and sad moments too. Excitement and disappointment.

I am still troubled by a statement made by a close family member. If it were to come from someone mature and married, I could accept it. I shall wait and see when his time comes…

Not so sure when will I be back blogging more consistently…am still upset and not feeling good.
