Grand Uncle

Marriage 6 Comments »

We had a full house last weekend as the brothers came home for a wedding dinner of a close relative. It was fun for Belle because she has lots of playmate.

After 4 years of being in the family, I got the opportunity to hear and chat with one of my sis-in-law. Well, I am very quiet and reserved when it comes to family gathering. I do not like big crowd. So back to the dinner, I sat beside her. She shared with me her family background and how she grew up without a father since 12 and helped her mom sell sugar cane water after school. She also started giving tuition since 12. Ever since, she is determined that she must enter varsity, get a degree and be a teacher. I enjoyed when she comes back because she is a very good cook. But her sons are very rough. This time, he broke Belle’s chair!

My mom-in-law always have something to say about her future in-law. So I asked the sis-in-law what did she commented about me before marrying hubby. She said that my mom-in-law was worried about our closed blood relation. Worry that our children will have medical problem. My great grandmother and hubby’s father are cousins. If I’m not mistaken. They have the same surname. So, hubby is my granduncle. Do you think that is close? Hmm…Thank God that He blessed us with 2 perfect daughters. I think that’s a relief to my mom-in-law.

At the wedding I saw my uncle, my mom’s youngest brother. He said that grandfather is related to them. The bride’s father is my mom-in-law’s nephew. Malacca is so small. So, anybody else is related to me?

I cut Belle’s hair yesterday while she eats ice-cream.

Mine, kinda flat coz I added too much water.

Whatz inside?
Carrot, Cabbage, Onion, Chili, Prawn, Anchovies. Mince it all.
Wheat flour, oil and salt.

How to?
Add some water to the wheat flour then mix all the minced ingredient, salt and a tablespoon of oil. Mixed it well. Then deep fry it.

Dip it in chili sauce before putting it in your mouth. :)

Happy Trying!

Rebonding

Took half day leave yesterday and went to rebond my hair at Thomas and Guys. They are having 50% discount for rebonding. I paid RM150 for mine. Thanks to Mable. She was the one who recommended me to go there and she accompanied me throughout (3 hours). She was also my translator coz the hairstylist does not understand English and I do not speak any Chinese dialect.

After much pulling back, left and right, I have stiff neck now!

While ironing my hair, the hairstylist assistant told him that I would look better with fringe. He agreed to it (well, I can understand a lil mandarin). Called my friend to convey it to me. I asked on how will my fringe look like. He said he will cut it sideways. I said, “No way” “I do not want to look like ah-lian” “Any pix?” Then another hairstylist came and asked why I do not want a fringe. The last time I had fringe was during my wedding photo session and I look so cheena. Then he told me to think over it and come back after I have washed my hair on the 4th day, if I want to have my fringe cut.

Later when the hairstylist was trimming my hair, he mentioned again to his assistant that I will look younger if I have fringe! YOUNGER!!! Hearing that, I reconsidered my decision and let him cut a lil fringe for me. (so vain ah! hehe) I told him better make it nice or I will cry. He assured me that I would not cry and I didn’t.

My hubby commented “Your hair is very nice” (he seldom make such remark) I am so happy that he likes it. Thank God he did not nag on the amount I spent for it.

I watched it!

Yup, we went to watch Star Wars - Revenge of The Sith just now. It was 6.30pm show. Arrived home from office, grabbed a sweater, 2 buns and a box of orange juice and off we go to Mahkota Parade. GSC, the only cinema in Malacca. Arrived there at 6.20pm. Hubby bought a box of pop-corn. The movie was okay lah. Finished at 9.00pm, then we went to KFC for dinner. I was so surprised with the chicken burger I ordered. So tiny! Anyway, the size is just nice for my small tummy. Oh ya, we did not bathe!!! Hubby is holding a towel now, maybe he’s going to take his shower. Me? Tomorrow lah =P

The Big 5

Today is my mother’s birthday. She turns 50 today. She has 2 grandchildren (mine) and 2 more coming this September (bro’s & sis’). Kinda young to have grandchildren at her age. Let me count…by the time Belle finishes her studies, she will be 24. By then I will be 50++. I think I will only become a grandma when I retired. Come to think of it, it is quite okay in the sense that I will be able to care for her children. Do not really trust outsider to babysit my grandchildren. (I think I will be full time mommy is my mom does not babysit my children) Do not know what kind of value and character that they will instill in them.

It is so nice when you have something to look forward to besides going to Cell Group meeting every Friday and church service every Saturday night. This coming weekend, there will be a Southern Division Games Carnival (Southern churches). My church will be in-charge of selling food and drinks. I finally decided to sell rojak and tapai. Thinking of bringing Belle along but hubby said I have to care of her alone as he will be the MC for the day.

Aish!!! Please come and help me! Please! Room is available. The one with the air-cond working. Hehe.

Oh ya, aMuse likes children right?! Long weekend for Singaporean too right? You did say you want to come here right? Come lar, help me babysit Belle-Belle. Please, please, purlease…Hehe.

Hubby will be away for Sports Ministry Training in PD for 15 days (I think) next month. This time not so bad lar. Can contact him on the phone and drive down there (1 hour drive) when I really horny miss him. He will be back on Sundays though.

******
On June 11, there will be another grand wedding ceremony of a church member’s daughter in Guoman Resort, PD. No church service in church that Saturday but all of us will be going there and have a sunset service at the beach (I think). Cool ya. The church chattered a bus to bring us there. This is going to be fun and it will be Belle’s first ride in the bus. Must start showing / telling her what is a bus.
