Last Supper: Cambodia

Food 9 Comments »

Took half day leave yesterday to cook for a group of MMU student that will be leaving to Cambodia for a mission trip next week. All together 26 of them including pastors. 5 of the student came earlier to help me. 2 girls and 3 guys. One of the girl never done any cooking before. Another one scared of frying. Anyway, they tried their very best helping me to chop stuff and washing (thank God for them, I don’t like to do washing anyway). The guys are great, they helped to fry stuff like, keropok, luncheon meat, omelet and fried dace. Let me list down the food:

Belle’s dog, originally uploaded by miche.

Last night, Belle asked daddy to draw her a dog. Daddy drew a dog (picture on the left). Belle said, “No”. Then Belle drew her version of a dog (picture on the right). Belle’s dog look more like a dog hah? Maybe she’ll grow up to be as talented as aneki :)

Another Fried Bee Hoon Recipe

Every Friday is a Cell Group day where members from church that stays within the same vicinity gathers to have fellowship and discuss about previous week’s sermon.

Every Friday, I have to think of what refreshment to bring. My usual will be fried bee hoon with stew pork, fruits, cakes or jelly. Yesterday, hubby requested for fried bee hoon but no bee hoon available at home. So we decided to buy wan tan hor. Then it occurred to me that today, we will buy wan tan hor again for dinner. You see, every Saturday we take dinner in church because hubby have to be there by 7pm. So we usually “ta-pau” our dinner there. So I decided to buy a packet of bee hoon, fish cake and fry it with chili instead of stew pork. Unfortunately, the shop I went ran out of fish cake. Never mind, make do with whatever I can find in the fridge. So below is the recipe:

Bee Hoon
Blended Chili (chili, shallots & candle nuts)
Sliced onion
Chopped garlic
Chicken stock
Cabbage
Salt
Dark Soya Sauce
Eggs
Fried Fish Fillet (slice small in cube)

To me, it tasted just ok but the children loves it.

I have a car
The car is an old car
It has a few fine scratches
It did not have major dent

I still have a car
The car is still an old car
Now, it is with a major scratch
It is dented!

I was expecting this to happen,
But not with my old car
Because it is slightly smaller than his
But it happened to my old car!

So careless
So angry
No apologize
No sorry

Friday
This year, camp was boring for me. The only thing that I learn is from Jason on scripture reading and meditation. “Never leave your prayer closet without receiving the rhema word from God.” It is just like; never start a journey with an empty tank of petrol in the vehicle. Husband wasn’t in the session except when he has to worship lead or back up. Other time, he’ll be with Belle in the children’s room. It was fun for Belle, she got to play on the swing many many times and go down to the beach everyday. For supper, we went out to tapau (take-away) Singapore Fried Bee-Hoon (a must whenever I’m there). The fried bee-hoon is very tasty and delicious. Can’t get it that way in Malacca. No picture taken during camp. Hands occupied.

Long Weekend Ahead

General 4 Comments »

There is going to be a long weekend here. Tomorrow Malacca is celebrating its 2nd anniversary as Historial City. My mom and dad will be flying to Kuching, Sarawak to visit my brother and my pregnant sister. My bro-in-law is craving for a tapai (usually the pregnant will have craving!). Anyway, my mom got to ask my grandaunt to make some to bring there. She is also bringing some nyonya chang there.

As for me, I’ll be on leave till Monday. We will be having church camp in Port Dickson from Friday till Sunday. Going to skip one night session to travel back to attend a wedding dinner of a cousin (the only child) on Saturday. Mom will only arrived home on Sunday midnite, so taking leave to let her rest another day from the travelling.

This time, I don’t think I will be enjoying the camp. I hope I could. A baby and a toddler = A handful. Husband will either be worship leading or backing up in one or two sessions. And I have to make sure that Belle does not run to her daddy at that time while carrying Kiki at the same time. Hmm…

Broken

Dove 1 Comment »

Flipping through Our Daily Bread to get today’s page, my eyes was glued at April 1 reading.

Passage taken from OBD on April 1, 2005:

Read Psalm 31: 9-24

Few unbroken lives in this world are useful to God. Few men and women can fulfill their hopes and plans without some interruption and disappointment along the way.

But man’s disappointments are often God’s appointments, and the things we believe are tragedies may be the very opportunities through which God chooses to exhibit His love and grace. We have but to follow these lives to the end to see that people who have been broken become better and more effective Christians than if they had carried out all their plans and purposes.

Are you, my friend, being broken today?
Has the dearest thing in your life been torn away?
